Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Dear Santa...

Just wow, this is an awesome, awesome build. Very well thought out and very quick progress as a bonus! You will have one extremely nice driving truck when it's finished! I haven't seen an official paint scheme yet, so I'll cast my vote for the original yellow/white colors. There's not many trucks around with that color combo so it would be different and stand out, while retaining a bit if the classic/original look. Cant wait to see it finished!

Still working on the paint scheme, I really like the gray in the wheels, but yellow always catches your eye

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Had to back track some today. One of the front wheels center bore was completely wrong would not even slide onto hub???? Ordered a replacement so won't be back on the ground for another week.

I mounted the engine last night, the original motor mounts were located in the back two holes, the cpp mounts fit perfect in the front two holes and the hole in the cross member, the instructions said nothing about which holes to use, so I used the front two "WRONG".

Took the enging back out had to drill a hole in the cross member for the lower bolt then replaced the engine.

FYI original oil pan works just fine when mounted in the CORRECT location....yes now I'm the proud owner of a muscle car oil pan that I don't need

Notice the string that is strung between the two cab mounting holes. Using this string line I can closely estimate the shifter location in the cab.

Not sure yet, I like the bench seat, but I'm also thinking about building a center console out of mesquite as well.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Got the front of the motor installed, air conditioner compressor is tight, I will have to drill some holes in the rails to install the bottom two bolts, or remove the motor again.

I sure hope someone makes some short 90deg A/C line.

I'm very surprised at how short the throw of this transmission is, cross member is temporary.

Yeah, the A/C mounting seems to be about the biggest issue with the LSx swaps. I haven't kept up on what guys are doing about it, since I am still working with Gen I engines. If you haven't been there yet, you might check out possible solutions in the LSx Swap section......

Wow.. That is so nice. You are gonna have a truck that is by far better then a new one you can buy at any dealership.. I know the planning that goes into this is extreme. Do you sleep at night?

Man Im glad you posted pictures of the Vette accessory belt system. I new it would clear..haha The truck setup that most people run is uber ugly. After owning a Nova with an LS2 and Vette accessories it looked like it would clear on these trucks. You just proved it..

Thanks again!

Glad the pics help, I'm glad to do it. I was nervous until the A/C unit was finally in.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Well the front rail has two new holes. Lower left hole is half way on the cross member bolt. To get the lower left bolt in it has to go in first and I had to shorten the treads by about 1/2".

Upper left bolt was replaced with a standard bolt, it's all tight now!

Starter is in.
