Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build
Your exhaust is similar to something I thought of years ago. Running the pipe out of the header and under the frame, BUT you could run the tail pipe straight out the back. You can calculate how far the rear coils springs will compress completely and route your pipe accordingly.
Of course if you have 18" wide tires, this deal may not work. Mounting the muffler body vertically can help also. I told a friend about my idea. He built such a system on his 66 C-10, it worked nicely. |

Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build
So i ran the truck for a short amount of time, about 100 miles and i just did not like what i had completely. What i did not like is that it would get hot quickly. so it needs better electric fan with a shroud. Then it had a wierd vibration and noise. i was nervous about what i had done with rear end, so i decided it was time to rebuilt it completely, so i will get the gears and posi i wanted. The motor just would not run very good, so i traced it the heads that were 305 heads with very small ports making the compression over 10:5 to 1. It sucked, so now new aluminum heads with 72cc chambers and a new intake. Along with that, well lets install a full MSD ignition. and last is conversion to floor shifter from column so a new column is installed from CPP.

Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build
unfortunately i have yet to start or run it with the new upgrades. I recently got word that i need surgery for neck discs that are degenerative to the point of causing numbness in my left hand and pain that is crazy, so Dec. 27th i had a double disc fusion, so im down and out for a couple months.
But i do have a couple other things i need to do. I need to change out the stock power brake booster and disc and drum prop. valve with disc all around. Then i am looking at building a custom center console that i will then mount a new floor shift onto. I think i want to install a B&M Pro Stick. I used one on my 1966 Chevelle and loved it. I have been playing around with FITech also, just thinking.... |
