I'm anxious to see what you come up with on the windows. I have a couple of ideas, but never any time to work on them. FrizzleFry was working on the '60-'63 one piece windows, but I don't think he got them finished.

Headers! These are the Pacesetter headers. They fit well but I do need to clearance one spot on the driver side by the crossmember. Full length and they don't hang below the frame.

used some Mar-K products and also used the lower pivots off of a late model truck to make it easier to take off the gate!

What are the part numbers for the tail gate parts you picked up from Mar -K
Also what year were the trunions/lower pivots you used? I like your idea would like to use it

Mar-K parts are:

102837 for the tailgate links and
100266 for the latch kit.

I got the trunions off of a '90s *cough* ford *cough*

After putting on the link kit, i had the thought in retrospect that i should have got the modern cable style link but the Mar-k parts did go in well.

Ok, Here is my write up on the one piece power window conversion.

First, I bought the windows from Vintage Glass in Atlanta. They have a website but no products listed at this time. I just called for the glass. Their kit comes with felts but i am experimenting with a couple different types other than theirs to see which fit the best.

Next, I bought the power window kit from specialtypowerwindows.com. Part number 5559-2cvr. It is important to get this kit because it is what allows the back of the window to tilt as it goes up and down. I did make one mod to the assembly which i will detail below.

I also got a variety of 1/4 20 hardware and some spacers and some springs from Ace Hardware.

Remove the old vent windows and manual regulators. There are a couple tabs in the forward top of the window frame area that I removed with a dremel tool so I'd have room for the window felts.

Then install the guides. I had to space out my rear guide because of my suicide doors about an inch on the bottom. It shouldn't affect the travel of the kit to leave them stock though. The SPW kit comes with a front guide which you have to figure out where to put. I simply installed mine straight down from the bottom edge of the window and tried to keep it paralleled with the rear guide. Here is where I used the Ace Hardware spacers and bolts that I bought. To secure the top of the forward guide I used the original bracket that held in the vent window and screwed it to the guide:



Install you felts now.

The mod I made to the regulator was to add an "L" shaped bracket between the regulator and glass mount piece to attach a spring to. This assures that the back of the window drops immediately when you power the window down to avoid any binding.:






Next install the regulator. I drilled the bolt hole 14" from the back edge of the door. It should be close to the center. I hung it parralell to the tracks and secured it at the middle and bottom as well.

Next mount your glass in the channel as the first link described. Make sure you've trimmed it so the channel won't catch on your felts. Then install you glass in the door. I would recommend having power to the unit and a switch wired up so you can move it up and down as you install it to reach the nuts on the track.

The install went quite a bit easier than i was afraid of. I don't know if you'll be able to use the original inner trim pieces after this install but mine are going to be custom anyway.


I'd be happy to answer any other questions anybody thinks of.

Thanks for writing this up this one of the mods that I would like to do but I have heard so many neg's about. Mostly how the window rattles when not fully up or down basically in mid travel. Keep us posted on the channel that you use.

No major updates for now...I've been working a lot which keeps me away from home and the garage. I have been amassing lots of parts though so as soon as I can get some time I should be able to get some progress made!
