Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
Ordered Front calipers today. Did a little test fitting as well....
Ran into a small issue. The holes on the new POL trans mount dont line up with existing holes.

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
That transmission crossmember will stretch out enough for you to put the bolts in you will just have to lean on it a little bit, dont drill its not necessary.

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
There was so much variation on frames between years and plants, it would have been a miracle if they did line up. I'd drill a couple new holes in the frame and mount and call it good.
Or do what Xeen said.

Nice. I enjoy seeing a build thatis so clean. Mine is outside under a canopy. It gets dusty a lot. I tink I will give it a wash as soon as we get over this cold snap. 65 here today. Happy building my friend.

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
Maaan, this all looks good! One thing, If I may- If you go way down on these trucks, those LT headers are about the closest thing to the road. Lower than the crossmember, in some cases. If you haven't installed them, you may wanna consider shorties, or mid-length. Just my .02... Cool Project!

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
Installed my ECE Super Trac bar Kit.
It looks nice but i think i will have some clearance issues with the diff cover. Will sell my ECE Kit and buy this one.

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
Take two.... Apparently i did not realize that when the instructions say right side and left side they are referring to as if you were sitting in the truck. So i had to break it down again and swap the disc brake brackets.
All Done... So i had a problem with my ECE trac bar and the diff cover clearance. So i ordered the CPP Bent Trac Bar kit. Took it all apart and found out that the CPP brackets wont work with the ECE trailing arms. So what did i do? I used the brackets from the ECE kit and the bar from the CPP kit. Should have plenty of clearance now.. Old.. New.. And here are my New rear Disc brakes... Old and nasty... New....

Lookin really good man, how did that transmission crossmember fit, did you have to drill it to get it to work?

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
Not a whole lot going on but....
I purchased some tubular engine mounts and a tubular transmission mount... Oh yeah a friend had these Boyd's in his attic sitting around for a few years. I need to polish them up. Brand new Nitto tires on them. 18's up front and 20's in rear.

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
An opportunity came up to get a clean (originally from AZ) cab that requires very minimal work to get ready for paint. Will save me weeks of work plus i can sell mine to offset the price. Got it today....

Re: Roushinator's 72 C10 Stepside Restore/Build
Holy Smokes that Holley Stealth Ram Jet system by itself costs nearly as much as my entire Vortec swap.
I'm guessing you are going with a Vortec Head, so this is the 550-827 model? |
