Re: Pictures of flat/satin paint jobs

gee all i did was scrape off the peeling paint,
rip off the trim,
wipe with varsol,
and roll/brush on flat black rust paint bout 4 coats,
winter beater suns melts snow on the black
hid in the dark so well a chick drove into it while it was parked = write off
and it does get chalky, even in gloss, the red and white olds is gloss

Re: Pictures of flat/satin paint jobs

Not to sound like a broken record, but where do I find info on how to set an air compressor (pressure) settings so that I can paint? Every sight talks about mixtures, sand, prep, etc.....i cant find anything that talks about paint guns and compressors. I bought set of HVLP guns and NO instructions came with them. I have an old Craftsman paint gun from when I was in high school(20+yrsago) but cant remember anything about how to set up the system....

I'd call the tech line or help desk for whichever brand of paint you choose. After getting the information I'd buy a quart or less of the same brand product and practice on something. Grab a fender or door from somewhere and spray away. Practice gun control, distance, the speed of your passes, and gun settings. Different brand guns use different settings, HVLP and non HVLP are worlds apart.

Re: Pictures of flat/satin paint jobs

Geez...I'm glad I found this thread.....I was going to do a glossy dark cherry and black but after seeing some of these trucks I really think I should go with a satin black....it just looks SOOOOO GOOOOOD! I'm thinking about just getting a painter friend of mine to paint it with his painting materials (automotive painter, not house)....I think that would be the best idea

Re: Pictures of flat/satin paint jobs

I want to sand the surface rust off my truck and paint the areas with satin white. Can anyone tell me what brand paint in a rattle can to use that will never fade if I keep it waxed? The rest of the paint is a little faded. I also don't want water to go thru it and start it to rust. Thanks.

Eastwood Hot Rod Black Kit with Clear Coat over it. Painted in 2010, hasn't faded a bit looks like it just came out of the booth (when it's clean).
