I think they are called 'clecos', I know Eastwood sells them. The tool to use them is a pair of special pliers, they have them in all sizes, but I like the gold and copper sizes, a little beefier and you can wedge them in for alignment w/o bending them. They are faster to use instead of zip screws when you take something apart and reassemble alot. I've had them for years and they are well made. A little pricey, but one of those tools that just seem to be a must have and pay for themselves over the years. I was thinking, dangerous, guys w/o welders could take their project to a welding shop after they do all the cutting and fitting, as it is really stable at this point. S/B nothing for a welder to knock out as you have done all the work of alignment. Next part is to finish up the kick panel. J.

Re: PO has me PO'd
According to your profile there ain't that much difference between me and you agewise, I'm three years older than you, and I'm gonna paint the engine same color as the truck.
Hang in there. Hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving. |

Here is the piece that has to fit up next to the cab mount box, make sure you fit this up on your 'A' post before final location of cab mount box.

Re: PO has me PO'd
Sorry, no pics. Went away to the beach with wifey, needed peace. We've had 3 deaths in the immed. family in the last 6 months. We have to get our relationship back on line, hope you understand.
I'm going to try and put some hours into it during the evenings. Right now I'm working on the back flange by the seat. So i'll keep you posted on any progress. Boy the Jimmy would have looked great backed up to the ocean w/ my fishing rods out the back. Oh well maybe spring..... J.

Re: PO has me PO'd
Yeah, my honey-do list is gone. Rebuilt the front porch, and painted.
Worked alittle on the back flange, but nothing to speak of. I look at some of these guys and am amazed at their progress. Sorry I'm so slow. This weekend is shot in the arse also....

Re: PO has me PO'd
Yeah, I started working on the flange that runs in front of the seat, I'll update the post as soon as I take it apart and take pics. I thought that I would have to build a flanging tool to do the out side radius, but it seems you can use a straight flanging tool to do this step.
What I did was cut my old floorboard where I wanted it and traced my new floorboard from the bottom, then I just marked back 7/16" towards the seat to make up for my flange and cut it there. I had to grind a little bit to get it to sit in the flange area but no big deal. When screwed together the 2 pcs. should sit flat together. J.

So far I have messed up 3 floorboards, 1 kickpanel, 2 'A' post patch panels and I'm not even finished. Parts alone have cost me 3 million J/K Everyone says you can butt weld it, I don't think it's strong enough. That's why I flange it, it would be OK on the street but the inclines at Raush or Paragon....don't know! I'm glad you're watching, I feel your eyes on the back of my neck. Thanks for the compliments!! Now that my front porch is rebuilt, my wifey is happy. Nice to have 4 sons that know how to use tools, I tend to watch alot Hey, if I don't talk to you again before the Holidays, I'm wishing you and your family a very Happy Holiday Season. Jim

Sure, there are about 4 of us that go. Give me a heads up. They seem to prefer Raucsh, a little more laid back...

Re: PO has me PO'd
OK here are some pics of the flange area, some rust in this area but will be sandblasted in the final prep before welding, probably should have gone further back into solid metal but to late, I'll have to deal with it, keep this in mind when you decide where to cut. My first SNAFU Kurt, you jinxed me. haha
OK, any questions or opinions? Off to the workshop

Re: PO has me PO'd
OK, here is what I have done to date:
Any questions, comments, come on someone has to say something! The black line, in the last pic., represents the first cut on the floorboard. Then I measured off of that to get the final fit into the flange.

OK, I'll pencil you in. My daughter is havin' her baby around then, so we'll play it by ear.
We tried taking all the girls, but they were not interested. Go figure. J.

Re: PO has me PO'd
Hard to say, I really want to. Seems like if I get off my arse at nights after work it may be completed haha.
After the floorboards are done, mostly just reassembly. Then its the fact that everything has to work, never really had this truck on the road. J. Hey, why don't you invite -GREG 72, he lives up your way, doesn't he?
