Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
I will be running the Edelbrock serpentine set up that comes with it's own p/s pump. I am sure there will be some custom hoses I will have to have made for it.
The other problem is going to be that all these parts are polished and I do not want anything "chrome" on this truck. So, I will have to figure out what I am going to do about that......

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
My No Limit rack is on the FedEx truck for delivery this morning, planning on showing the entire install of the rack on here step by step to share my experience with the setup that will hopefully be some useful info for others future installs.

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Got home and did the inventory check........
Then went to mock fit the bracket, and this is what I ran into............... The lower control arm u-bolts are hitting the bracket. Should I just grind the bracket, or is there something wrong?

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Thats easy enough to solve just notch the bracket then add a rib to reinforce it and move on there is nothing to see here

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
More work on the rack comming this evening, in the meantime I have another little teaser project. Been thinking about doing a rendering of what I would like the paint job to look like. So instead of a drawing, I will be working on a more 3D rendering.
I know, it's a short bed, but I am not going to hold that against it. Besides, you try and find a model of one if the in a long bed Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
with the quality of work they do at No Limit I doubt if it is meant for you to have to notch it , I would give them a call and see what they say !

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
I agree, but the u-bolts I am using here are from LMC and much bigger than the factory ones were. I believe that is most likely the issue. I did send Rob a message too though.

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Sweet setup! I've been curious about the no limit rack. Aside from your CPP u-bolts, are there any issues with bolting this thing up?

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
That's ok you can easily sell those trailing arms and recoup what you spent to refurbish them plus some.

What trailing arms are you going with? (or are you holding out to surprise us with something else?)

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
Notched the frame for the u-joint......
........then did the test fit.......... ........needed to clean up the frame a bit, so took it outside......... .........however much you think you need to notch the frame, you can bet on just about doubling it..............

Re: 71' (gonna be) a one of a kind custom
So I installed the steering shaft bearing, not too hard to do. Just remember, you do have to shave the outside edge of the bearing collar so it fits the inside of the frame rail.........
Now the u-joints provided come with two set screws, one long and one short at each collar. I found it best to use two of the short ones on the side closest to the rack (for clearance issues) and the longer two in the middle as you see here........ I missed something when I was doing my inventory check, missing washers for the outer tie rods. No big deal though, I will just pick some up this evening...... Other than that, she's all done!!!! Final thoughts for this install: Remember, this is NOT a bolt up kit. There is a lot of cutting, grinding, and drilling involved. I know most of the guys on here are comfortable with that, as for my self, going in I was apprehensive about doing all of this. It was l lot of hard work, but now that it is done, I do not regret the decision to go with the No Limit kit.
