Re: Post your truck model pics here.

I want to build a`72 4wd promo to add to my authentic promo collection. So,it has to look stock. The easy part is,once I match original paint, all I have to do is paint everything one color,.That used to burn my butt when I built models as a kid when other kids didn`t even paint anything,WTF?I guess it still gets me goin`!ARGG!!!

Hey special-K, there is a model show coming in up a few months not far from you. It's in Towson right off the the Balt. beltway... I think I'm going to go to it this year...

I have a good 60 or so kits still in the boxes. I am pretty sure that I don't have even one Chevy truck.

Re: Post your truck model pics here.

I just got mine from this guy on ebay, expensive, yes, but I couldn't find one in a store anywhere. Don't know where the rims came from, I'd like to know too This guy is a good seller, 100% feedback, got my truck within a week, and it was very well packaged.

Re: Post your truck model pics here.

There is some cool stuff in here. I want to get back into building model cars. Seeing the scratch built stuff reminded me of many years ago when my brother and I would play with our 1/24th scale trucks, I used to customize them. I would use tape to put racing stripes on them and tint the windows and stuff. And the I would build snow plows, caps, stakes, and all sorts of stuff to go into the beds of our trucks out of popsicle sticks, tooth pics, and tape.

Re: Post your truck model pics here.

WOW, I didn't even know we had a model section here.

Ok, I'll post my Chevy truck that I'm building.

This truck started life as an AMT 1984 GMC 4x4 kit (re-release of MPC Fall Guy) that my friend bought and robbed the suspension and axles from and gave to me. Since it was missing the 4x4 parts, I figured why not build my truck.

I started off with the first thing that is incorrect for my truck, the bed. The kit has a shortbed and my is a longbed. I'm not finished because I need another box and frame to pull it off. Here's how I'm doing it.

Now the rest of the truck. I found a guy on the net that made the single light grille. I had a set of 5 slots cast from an old Ford kit, and I found the proper front bumper.

I started work on the interior by correcting it. It had 77-80 doors and 73-80 dash which I both scratchbuilt and modified to the post-80 style. I also removed the GMC from the tailgate band.

And finally, the truck as it sits now.

I hope to finish this one by next fall.

Re: Post your truck model pics here.

Here is mine. I couldn't find a 71-72 LWB 4x4 so I built one. Used the 2wd truck kit and stole the frame (and lengthened) from a blazer kit. Fun little project, I set it on my big trucks air cleaner at shows and it gets lots of comments.
