Thanks custom 63 but I think you have more room than i do
I think maybe one of the triangle freflow ones might work. If anybody has one what is the shortest diameter of it from tip to the other side. I dont think i can fit anything larger than 6" in diameter. I think maybe one of the triangle freflow ones might work. Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---
hey custom 63,
how did you get your linkage to work with the carb, did you go right through the firewall? I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---
If you look back at my past post, picture #2 shows the throttle cable coming through the firewall. It’s not a direct shot as you probably already know so that’s why it does the curve it does. Its not as smooth as I would like it either and I have a pretty heavy duty return spring hooked up to it as well. I am planning on tearing her all down for a frame up rebuild and I will probably redesign it then.

This was going to be installed in my 70 C-10. I sold the truck, so it's going into my Chevy II.
I have some more pics here: 63ChevyII.com |

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---
Yes you can run that. You will need to grind part of the header and intake where they mount at the bolt. I HIGHLY recommend you put studs in place of the bolts since you'll need about 5 hands otherwise, just to keep everything in place and aligned while bolting things together.

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---
The kind of studs I use are 3/8-16 UNC into the head and 3/8-24 fine to meet the mating surfaces. The fine thread comes up to torque slower and holds better.

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---
Sorry if I missed it in the thread.
Can anyone confirm for certain if these $130.00 Flowtech long tube headers will fit my '70 2wd C-10 with a 250? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BI...n/?prefilter=1 It says 4wd only but they look the same as the Cliffords & Hedmans way more expensive ones. In fact from what I can see they all look like they could have came out of the same factory. Only the discontinued Hookers look different to me. (I'd love to find some,if they'd fit) I don't mind paying more for a better product but if it's the same dang thing just in a different box, I'll buy the least expensive every time. Also if I upgrade to a 292 later.... Will I have to change the pipe routing because of the taller block?? Thanks... Love the StoveBolt photos, keep 'em coming! Here's some 6 banger performance! I was playing around in my shop truck a while back. It takes mad skills to powershift a 3 on the tree! Seriously though, it is quite peppy to a bone stock 250.

Sometimes it will scratch them just a little going into 3rd, but I let up at the top of second when I saw that car coming. Usually there is no traffic out there, so it surprised to me see someone!

Doesn't Clifford make a couple of different header designs for the "late" L6s?

But from what I've read on the net. There may be a clearance issue with the "Long Tubes" & the tranny shift linkages. If you look at pictures of the $385.00 Clifford long tubes, the $195.00 Headmans & the $130.00 Flowtechs..... They all look like they have the same bends/dimensions. I'm just trying to find out if they are basically the same or are the more expensive Cliffords worth the extra cash. I,E.... better clearance/performance. Theoretically, long tube headers are good for better torque. For the record, I have had the manifold plate resurfaced and an offroad accident that crushed into the #5 downtube into the collector was resectioned and patched with a half section of pipe, but the Cliffords have served me well for years. They ran about 24 years on the last engine, then were hot tanked and bead-blasted, finally painted with VHT 1200* cast iron grey spray paint and put back on the 'new' engine [the original, but rebuilt @ .030-over, w/ Crane 260H cam, 307 V8 intake valves [1.84"] and a few other mods]. I'm still running these headers 5 years after the rebuild and they are great. I run dual exhaust with a crossover [angled since the 1-2-3 collector and the 4-5-6 collector exit about 11" apart]. I have turbo mufflers and the stock, behind-the-rear-tire exhaust piping. I think the tube diameter is 1-7/8" or 2". But then I live in Southern Arizona, and unless I'm skiing, run into zero salty slush.

I went with the Clifford shorties and a home-made Y-pipe:
