For you that have put the blazer tanks in do you put the lines back in that go to the canister in the engine compartment ?

if you decide togo with the stock blazer tank for our trucks be warned you are going to have too notch a cross member on the bottom of the bed if you have a steel bed which can be pretty hard if you dont plan removing the bed if you have a wood floor in your bed you can just remove the cross member i wish sombody would have warned me about this

I moved mine 'cause I got tired of the smell of gas inside my cab and spilling down the side of the cab after a left turn following a fillup. I guess I'm just getting old and prissy.

So, we need to be afraid of drunk people in the road instead of the fuel tank in the back. The trucks with the fuel tank in the chassis in this type of collision have more probabilty to find a spark than the ones inside of the truck.

Well I dont plan on driving mine much, so I put the tank in the back, I ran the cannister with all new lines, the crossmember will be cut, but i hate to the spilling of fuel after filling it up and turning even replacing the gas cap twice a year. piss poor tank design. oh well......

i bought the tank from GMC paul, got the straps made and sending unit from a salvage yard....Tank holds over 20 gallons..22 i thhink..i also have a smaller 12 gallon tank that is the depth of the frame rails if someone wants it,would be good for a lowered truck that doesnt get driven a whole lot...or if you dont mind fillin it all the time...

None that I know of. They are faily common for fuel transfer tanks.

How tough is it to build a fuel cell. I dont really know what kind of technical stuff is in the cell but 400 dollars seems like a lot of money for a tank.

I looked at building my own, but after materials, time, and peace of mind it was an easy choice to get a Fuel Cell Guy tank. It mounted easily, and was literally plug and play.

LMC's rear gas tank sucks, don't get it. it hangs way to low and looks like crap.

Let me add my opinion....since it IS worth so much. :-)
First off, the blazer replacement will force you much work....the 1-3/8" filler
and the fact that if its intended for a fleetside bed, major modification of the underbed support rail.
The ECE version may seem pricey in the beginning, but...in the end you will be happy with it. 2" filler tube (at least for a side fill set up) Bolt right in using the stock holes (if a short bed will require removal of the original frame cross member, and the include a nicely made replacement) You can also specify carb or fuel injection (my recommendation, get the fuel injection version....it can be used with a carb and gives you the option of upgrading later) Comes with a 0-90ohm fuel level sending unit made by VDO. Holds 22~23 gallons. Made out of stainless, so it wont rust.
Here are a couple of pics I have of my install. Only thing I requested on the tank is a 1/2" NPT bung installed apprx 2" in front of the side fill port, for the vent during refueling to prevent backfill issues. (this is non-standard to the ECE, special request) The filler door is from an S-10, not sure of the year.

As if this weren't reason enough, smelling fuel is not good for you either! I am going to do the swap for the above reason and that I once had a 67 (years ago) and it leaked fumes into the truck regularly and I need all the brain cells that survived college so Blazer tank here I come. I may even fab one up myself. I have access to a TIG welder and I can buy the SS, I plan to run an LT1 and need the intank pump.

Didnt someone on here put the filler neck though the rear post hole on the back of his truck?

Also I was wondering would it be possible to have 2 reasonably sized tanks in our trucks? One behind the wheels and one infront? I was wanting to do this (454 gets like 9mpg want to be able to go somewhat far without refilling) but having the filler necks in the driver side corners on the front and back.

Do you get what im saying?

too bad there's a driveshaft in front of the axle. they make saddle tanks to go on the sides. don't ask me where they're sold, because all the one's i've seen are originals.

Hi Lock.. I have the ECC tank and hitch forr my truck in the basement ready to install next spring. What are you going to do for a gas tank filler? Maybe by now you have it done and could post some pics of what you have for that. I also notice you have a Super Track bar , did you get that from ECE as well? What ,if any, suspension plans do you have for the truck. I'm planning a 2 1/2 drop spindle with a 1" front dropped coil and 5 coil drop in the rear with the Super Track bar & shock relocaters.
