Any speakers that fire directly at each other have horrible lowend and imaging! If you have ever heard 6X9's in 82 to 92 camaros or s10 blazers you'll see what I'm talking about! I would definatly fire them towards the driver!

Who is going to try the Qforms like 70c10 just posted? I would like to know if there are any modifications when using the Q forms on a 67-72 truck? If anyone buys a set of these please share the mod and install info with the rest of us.

Yellow69...I'm not sure I know about Factory kick panel speaker panels???The speaks in your post would probably work with the everyday kick panel from any of the vendors...but just for comparison the 6.5" Infinity Kappa Power handling is 100W RMS and 400W Peak

My friend works at Harman International and they make the JBL and Infinity's there. He can get a pair of them for $72.89 for me if I want them. Tons of stuff on there dirt cheap-amps, subs, speakers.

Hmm yeah me too me too! I'm going strong for quality over quantity when I put the system in my truck I'm shooting for 200-300 watts of crystal clear rather than 2000 watts of raw power like in my other car (it's clear but not that clear ya know).

My original interior design had speaker pods for the door panels and kickpanels but after i saw the finished door panels i thought they looked kind of odd in there so i added a map pocket behind them to balance out the look but i still didnt like them so i am having the door panels redone without speakers and going with them in just the kickpanels and rear behind the seat. IMO speakers just dont look right in these doors.

I'll check with my friend, but I'm pretty sure he can't buy a bunch. It would probably look a little strang unless he owned the scooby doo van and was setting up a system.

You check it out on that purchase for $72 and change.

Molds ARE being assembled for the kick panel install. Plan is to have the hole for the 6.5" speak and a flat spot where the 1" tweet can be drilled out if you have a component system.

This statement isn't the least bit accurate. Magnet size (along with its material composition) are but one factor in determining flux density within the voice coil gap. The vc gap is but one factor in determining the motor efficiency of the driver. Motor efficience is but one factor in "sound quality" of a speaker.

True enough but to a novice this isnt a bad rule to follow. Its like saying that the larger the cid the more hp a motor will have. Now this isnt the least bit accurate either but to someone who knows NOTHING about motors its not a bad generalization. Following me? If not then go to best buy or any other typical speaker retailer. Ask them to line up the speakers in order of quality and see how many smaller magnet speakers are out of order ..... maybe 1 out of 10 sets and they are probably the ones that retail for TWICE what any of other set do. Now if we are talking high end ..... yeah that generaliztion goes out the window but if your going to spend $500+ on a pair on components then you should probably know a little more about speakers than the average Joe or at least find someone who does and ask them.

This "novice" thinks his intelligence has been insulted since he had earlier posted that better magnet material composition can make an inferior sized magnet composed of high quality material serve a speaker as well as a superior sized magnet of a lesser quality material, all things being equal otherwise.

Just blowin' smoke.

Update...I've had some trouble building a mold out of wood sticks and am going to see if I can use clay to build the mold...I am still working on this.

Yeah, 383, I was gonna say, that's an interesting gas tank you got behind that seat. That must be for that extra special racing fuel!

Once I pick my truck up (sunday) I'll start work on a pair of kicks myself. Maybe if a few of us get working on this we can come up with some sort of design that will work without too much modification. I have JL Audio VR 6.5" sitting in a box in my closet, and they are fairly beefy, so if I can make them fit others should not be a problem.

Definitely post pics Chevydude, I'm going to make some myself once I find a good set of components locally.
