the ceramic of a spark plug is used to quietly break car windows... on the street its commonly known as "ninja rock"... but I personally wouldn't go breaking any windows atthe salvage yeard unless you wanna buy it or be asked not to come back to the salvage yard... If this is a true story, the kid was probably either going to smash and grab a part or two... or he was the finder and was trying to assess how much it was worth... many times thieves will find a hot rod and try to line buyers for all the parts first as they don't want to be sitting with stolen property around... so they steal it, strip it and burn it... and cash out within 24 hrs... But I doubt anyone would do so in a red cavalier... A lot of dopers steal to get cash and do so "to order"... Pro's will just pull up in a wrecker and there isn't much you can do about it.... good ones will even have an order to pick up the vehicle with a close enough VIN to make it look good... but they will do so when no one is home as they only take what they know they can get away with... but pros don't go after old trucks, they go for the late model parts or big $$$ cars as its expensive to get documentation to register a car to sell .... The only thing one can really do is be more dificult than the next person....

I live in New Lenox, IL in the real country part, this is very unlikley to happen around here I would say, I told my lawyer to handle everything so now thats going to cost me another few bucks, For the people who don't think it happened that way: I really could not belive it either when it happened I mean this kid was young like 17-18 years!!, so I guess that I won't go to hard on him, I mean we all make mistakes hell he is young, I think that he thought that if he admitted right there while it was happening that maybe nothing would happen, but he thought wrong. That's all I have so far, I'll update when I know the outcome so hang tight...............

That was just about right for a time because I live like in a area of New Lenox that is not to far from the police station (about 13 miles from the police station, my property and street boarders this complex of new homes that are trying to get everyone to sell there property so they can spread there development, I told them NO), and I guess that a cop was driving in or around my area. And heard the call, so I guess that I got lucky. Now that's not to say that someone calling about something like noise (hehehe) will have the same time wait.....

C&GF-Don't go easy on that tard. Just cause he was honest doesn't mean he learned his lesson. Just think that next it could be someonelse in your area that gets burglarized. You are doing your community a favor.

Speaking of police response time-Spoof aren't you the guy whose son got caught stealing election signs-apparently they were quick that day.

When I lived in Colorado in a prominant upscale neighborhood I got robbed 2x in my driveway~! Once they took all my telecom tools from the back of my Cherokee that was unlocked in the garage when I was still awake working in the basement! Once they got a cell phone and a camara that were in a car my girlfriends car left unlocked in the driveway.
