Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

I found a broken 1/4" ratchet, a rusted razor blade, and a lot of silicone "patches" over holes in the floor.

Didn't find them myself, but the PO found the original '66 license plates under the seat in the original envelope.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

Let's see can't remember finding anything in my Blazer,or my Suburban,I found a small chain in the rear corner of the 64 I just got,I guess I scored when i had the 41-1/2 ton,up under the seat was originally where the gas tank was but it had been moved to outside of frame,so under the seat was plenty of room for stuff,I found old screw drivers,Big old wrenches,an original Jack, tire Iron, engine hand crank,Brand new clutch and throw-out bearing with receipt from 1955,I think it was less the $20.00 bucks.and in the glove box there was an old plastic ice-scraper from a chevrolet dealership, and the last 20-30 yrs of the little pink Inspection papers in there..Oh and when I pulled the old metal bed off laying between the gas tank and frame were two paper oil cans with oil still in them Wolfes'head brand, thought that was kinda neat....I was hoping to find some money in it but the gentlemen that owned it had hid lots of money in his garage....

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

Found a Chevy set of Chanel locks off the line tucked down inside rear of cab after pulling tank out. Today pulled the heater and found two Coors church keys and two small Starrett rulers. When was the last time a Coors needed a church key?

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

Had a few pennies spit out of the kick panel vents on the drive home from Joplin to Atlanta when I bought mine, along with several odd screws... My 10-year-old navigator grabbed one of the machine screws, counted the threads against the mileage scale on the map, and used it to tell me how many miles to turn, exit ramp, etc. for the rest of the trip home.
The ashtray had a mouse skull and a cigarette butt in it.
The skull was there until a year ago, when I finally put it in the case in my shop next to a bobcat skull.

Parted out a '58 Buick that had a treasure trove in the trunk... besides all the musty, moldy clothes and old mouse'd-up newspapers and several bags of Grandma's yarn, there was a full set of Craftsman nut drivers, a ball pein hammer, a screwdriver, a couple canning jars, an old rolling pin (from grandma's kitchen) and a large canning funnel that looks like a tea cup but has an open bottom with a lip that sits into the mouth of a Ball or Mason jar... My boy kept the tools (and learned about Craftsman's warranty), and my wife used the funnel quite a bit.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

I found absolutely nothing in my truck since everything was completely stripped out when I bought it.

When I bought a 1965 parts truck I found about 20 pounds of dirt inside the cab, an old plastic handle screw driver, a Mustang Matchbox car, and an Android action figure from Starwars the Phantom Menace stuffed into one of the bed stake pockets.

The best part was finding what a great family bonding experience it is to tear an old parts truck down to the frame.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

this makes me think of my first truck (76 datsun) . a friend of a friend knew a guy that lost his license and was selling his truck for super cheap . when i bought it had enough empty beer cans and dried up puke on the passenger side floor board that the level of trash was piled up almost to the glove compartment.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

Picked up my '66 on Christmas Eve and found a new Craftsman toolbox full of brand new shiny Craftsman tools in the passenger floorboard under a stack of rags. Checked Sears.com and I can knock another $300.00 plus tax off of my purchase price.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

Well, nothing found in my 62 c10 but many years back I bought a 70 Trans Am, when pulling out the rug to replace with new, I found a big bag of weed that looked like it had been there a decade or 2.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

A few years back, I bought a Model A truck from the family of the original owner who drove the truck to Florida years ago and then subsequently died in the mid seventies.

When we first cleaned in out, we found a very well preserved 1929 Illinois license plate and a taxi license from Illinois dated from the thirties. The taxi license was cool because it was like a badge a taxi driver would wear above his shirt pocket.

I bought my '62 from a guy in Wichita. When I got it back home and pulled out the seat I found lots of Kansas farmland and several pheasant feathers.
