I want one! What more could you ask for. Very nice truck! Love the classic lines, looks better than any new truck out there today.

Re: Custom Built 1 ton 4x4 95% finished

Sorry for such a delay in responding back to post, I recently moved, and I currently still have no internet access.

Bram, super nice truck!!! Can't wait to get home and see it in person. My farm is in Seymour. What is the purpose of the header dumps? I've seen them, but don't know what they are for. Later, Jeff.
Jeff, thanks for the compliments! The header dumps are just for fun, that is if you like the sound of a big block exhaust coming straight from the headers !!

Are those power windows and locks? 4x4 of the year in my book !! Do you plan on showing it?
al's71gmc, Yes they are power locks and windows.
I really don't have any plans of showing the truck right now. The truck is my daily driver so I guess you could say I show it every day. Thanks for the kind words.

My goal with this truck was to build a custom 1 ton exactly like I wanted, and put my money in the build of the old beast, and not put it into a brand new truck. The new trucks have disappointed me for the most part because I can only work on them so much, and then it's off to the manufacture so they can charge me out A** for nothing! Sorry I'm off the soap box now.
My point is I love the 67-72 year trucks like so many others, that's why I chose the 72 for this project, it has definitely been a dream come true for me!
Thanks for all the compliments everyone you have no idea how proud it makes me!

Re: Custom Built 1 ton 4x4 95% finished

Bram, believe me when I say this. If anyone of you on this board knew me, you would know I am the pickiest son of a bit*c on this site. I know guys personally like Roy Pigford in Pasadena Texas that got second place this past year in Detroit Autorama Ridler award. Guys like Rodney Hutcherson that charges 5,000.00 dollars for simulated chrome graphics and such. I have seen nice and helped build 100,000.00 dollar plus rides. Your truck is absolutely gorgeous. I love the stock hubcaps. I love those for some reason. The silver and white is just timeless. That color combo will neve go out of style. The big block and gv over drive are incredible. Not to pry and you do not have to discuss on the board, but how much do you have in that ride so some people know that quality is expensive. To drive it everyday to is awesome. Very nice again.

Small world isn't it. I have known both these guys for years.

Sorry about jacking your thread Bram. That is an awesome truck. As 72CSTC5 was saying, having seen lots of pro built cars and trucks yours compares in quality, and appearence. Good job....

Absolutely outstanding work! What a classic looker.

From what year/make truck did you source the D60? Did you upgrade the front driveshaft/CV/pinion to 1350 yokes?
The engine compartment look is overwhelming...in a motorhead kinda way.
I'm surprised no one commented on it. Worth another look:

Super clean look. Aftermarket A/C system? Who's alum rad? 4-core? And who's accessory brackets?
Man, I can see myself in the reflection from the inner skirts.

Looks like you used a Corvette master cyl & 8" dual diaphram booster. Have you found the booster provides comparable or better power to the brakes than original boosters for our trucks? Was the original booster a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton booster?

Just fantastic work. Great job.

Ya know, I think I'd break down and add mudflaps to protect that perfect paint. Might ruin the looks, but I'd probably install the flaps with wing nuts for quick removal. Whatever you do, don't post pics of your beaut' with flaps. No reason to ruin the perfect picture we all have of it now.

No, I never hooked it up to the horse trailer in the picture, and now it’s sold. I have a four-horse slant 24ft gooseneck that I pull, it pulls just fine. For the crossmember I used the original. Thanks

This was my answer to how disgusted I am with the new 1 ton trucks. So instead of buying a new one I built one that I can work on, pull my gooseneck trailers, and drive to work every day.
I will get more pictures of everything.
That truck is beautiful - It's definitely not Grandpa's truck. You drive it to work every day? Is the ride a little rough?

I was driving it to work every day, I'm having a wiring issue right now thats keeping me from it. As for the ride it's not bad at all.
