Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

paid $750 for my '67 step a week ago, plus $150 gas money to have it delivered from Florida, it runs but it's been sitting for 3 years, everytime I drive it, something gets stuck, right now it's the throttle.

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

I paid $1500 for mine 3 years ago. It has been lowered, painted, new rims/tires, bumpers, and all new rubber. The rearend had to be rebuilt (3.42's in there now) but the 305 and th350 work very well so far. It will provide me with years of fun and good service

I promised the original owner I would drive it back by when I got done with it. Going to pay him a visit this weekend, truck is on the road for the first time this week YAY!

It was my dads truck mom wanted me to have it when he died, 72 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 4:10 gears auto tilt, a/c trim, cloth seat, tinted windows, tutone paint, it came from the dealer with a snow plow attached and was used comerically for its first 4 years of life.

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

I paid $400 for my 69 CST a/c tilt tach posi longbed in 1985 with 125,000 miles on it...then wore it out..at 250,000 miles...so a rebuild to shortbed in 1995 ...and another bunch of miles on it...450,000 now and its getting redone again into a 69 rollback....look at my avatar...thats is...454/400/4.56 locker rear disk brakes...21,000 drivetrain from a 77 GMC motor home chassis...

Now my 70 2wd blazer $600 in 1988 and could have swore it was a 4x4 33's and a body lift....it looks much better slammed to the ground...

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

My stepfater died about two years ago. I hadn't been over to my Mom's and his house for about 8 or 9 years cause I was living out of the country. well I went to help my Mom move out and sitting in their back garage was a 1967 half restored Cougar and a 1971 C-10 with a fresh motoe that had been sitting for about two years that he hadn't got started. His son wanted the Cougar, and my Mom said she guessed she was going to have to find someone to come fix the truck so she could sell it. I told her I would fix it, and she told me if I got it out of there I could have it. So I rented a trailer and hauled it from Atlanta to Houston, adjusted the valves, replaced the Q-jet and started driving it.

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

1200 bucks for 70 gmc big block with A/C with perfect body (now has a few dings and one crease 6 years later)... not too bad- i rebuilt the engine at 172,000 miles... lasted till 198,000 when the oil drive sleeve caused the pump to break and the resulting oil pressure ruined my rebuild i spent like 2 months doing... man that pissed me off- didnt have time to rebuild it again so i got a crate engine from evergreen and now have 230,000 miles on it...

Red face Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

I got an O.K. deal on my truck. I guess I should be happy with what I got for around seventeen hundred bucks. I should of been smart and read up on what was available for each year from 1967-1972 and what to look for. I did not have any access to the internet for the research I needed at the time, nor did I ask around like I should of. I'll be looking for a 1972 with all options instead of a 1970 with NO options like I have right now.when I decide to buy next time. At least I don't have to smog the damn thing!!

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

Paid $800 for mine. I've done rockers, corners, inner fenders, rallys, and alot of cleaning up. She has ran great since day one, and it's fun doing all the work.

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

$3200 (or maybe $3300 -- can't remember that far back). I bought it from a dealership (just traded in, no detailing) when it was 5 years old. New tires, factory air, 3 tanks, 4x4, 350 V8, everything clean, straight, & functioning properly -- seemed fair at the time.

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

Paid $1000.00 for my 72 longhorn with 402, factory A/C, automatic. Upgrades + $125 for old school aluminum slotted mags, $3000 for built 455 olds and 400 trans (self install, fits nicely). Now if I can only track down my wiring problem, (draining battery)? Still have 402 in storage. Paid $200 for my 68 chevy lwb 1/2 ton, 327, automatic. Both are works in progress. Concentrating on the longhorn first.

Anyone do a internally regulated alternator swap? Tips would be appreciated.
Awesome board thanks for all the help!

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

i bought a chrome GM 1 wire from kragen for 99 bucks about 3 years ago, no problems since. old alternator had huge issues, but this one kicks it. No more charging problems or batt drain. I just wired it straight to the battery and removed the power wire to the old regulator... it's been a while so the details have faded

Thanks. I think my alt is where I'm gettin my batt drain so I figured I might as well go internally regulated. Sounds easy. Nice truck you've got there.

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

I paid $2000 for my 69 at a swap-meet in Moultrie, GA. The guy wanted $2750, but I talked him down. The 350 that was in it ran like a champ, and I drove it 2 hours home and "surprised" my wife. It was a month before Christmas, and she threatened to take all of my presents home when she saw me pulling up. She doesn't like me going to swap-meets without her now. I just couldn't pass up the good deal!!!

>>Bought my DD 10 years ago at auction for $264.00.
No trans, driveshaft, etc, etc and half the engine.
Cost has exploded by $3,000.00+ in the past year.
>>C-10 #2 was $400.
>>C-30 was $200 split in half (Co-owned w/ a buddy).

Re: POLL... what did you pay for your truck?

Found in Colorado Springs, story was it was stored for 20 YEARS by the wife, after original owner died, I paid $5000...very straight, un molested, delete radio truck, rocker's already replaced, cowl hood, incredible metal bed floor with not one dent.....then I took her home and the real $ started to pour into what became and is Lil' Red today.
