I also got the bed installed while parts were in the shop or being worked on. I just need to get a buddy over to help me square things up and bolt things down.

Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

Yesterday and today I focused on getting doors on it. As usual, I ran into several other 'small' issues, but finally got them on. I keep forgetting that those 2 hour jobs actually require 16 hours! They're not on absolutely perfect, but pretty good considering I've never hung a door before. They shut very well, but I'll go back and redo them 'down the road'.

She's coming along and turning into the Circus Wagon I knew she could be! Wait'll ya see the front clip!

looks good...if you can't do ramps or stands...turn the concrete blocks so the holes face up. They are much stronger that way.

Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

Brad, I've REALLY been enjoying watching your project come along in your back yard!! Keep posting updates. I can't wait to see the finished product. Do you know how many great looks you're gonna get when you tell people, "Yeah, I built that in the yard without a garage to work in."

If you don't mind me asking, do you have a guestimate of how much you'll have in the truck when you complete it? I bet this is going to be proof that you don't have to be rich to have a nice, restored classic, daily driver.

Not to bash how you do things (I've done this too) but I wouldn't use concrete blocks period. When I was doing my front suspension rebuild I was installing the brake booster when the cement blocks I had the frame supported under (remember no front suspension) on the driver side crushed and the truck fell down and went boom. Thankfully I had a couple tires under the truck as well so she only fell a couple inches. I needed to go clean my pants after that happened. Please use big ole honkin wood blocks or real jackstands. Your safety isn't worth the price of not buying a set

Truck's lookin great. Keep the progress pics commin!

Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

Thanks for the encouragement Tynee and others. It's easy to get bogged down and wonder if it's all really worth it sometimes. I'm sooooooo looking forward to driving it again. My S-10 is very comfortable and very reliable, but it just doesn't have character.

I hear ya there Brad. I traded a late 90's Ranger straight across for my first 67-72, a 69 short step. I was just too board with the ho-hum truck and wasn't inspired to spend any time or money on it. Now I have the opposite situation and there's no turning back

Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

I worked on my truck today. A buddy came over and helped me align the doors. It's not nearly as complicated as I thought it would be, it's just tedius and time consuming. I didn't even have to use my persuader tool much at all today!

Now if I could just figure out where this part goes...

Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

Next, we put on the driver side fender. We were amazed at how well it fit. I didn't have to do much aligning at all. Here are some pics.

I'm currently up to 7 different colors on this truck including two different shades of blue! Isn't she purty?

Tomorrow I'll be working on finishing up bolting down the driver side fender and starting on the passenger side. I'm getting closer to driving her.

Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

Well it's been awhile since I last posted on this and this post will be wrapping up soon. I finally insured it and drove it home tonight. It felt sooooo good to be driving this again. It's certainly not the prettiest in town, but it's got much more character than my S-10. I love the S-10 and it's a very reliable, comfortable vehicle, but boring. I love working on my classic cars and although it can be dangerous in terms of putting too much time into them rather than more important things, it's a very satisfying feeling driving around a vehicle you rebuilt inside and out and knowing waaaaay more than the average person about the vehicle you're driving.

Finally, the comraderie we all share with this hobby can't be beat!
I'll post pics tomorrow!

Talking Re: Took my truck in to get cut up!

Sorry guys I was waiting for the right place and time to take some good pics near a scenic river here, but I'd keep forgetting. With that being said here's a pic of I took tonight where it sits for now.

I was driving it for about a month and have decided to park it again until I sell my S-10 at which point I'll begin driving it again as the daily driver. I've still got a TON of work to do on her, but she's very driveable and very fun to drive at that. I was amazed at how many people came up to me to tell me "what a nice truck". Not 'nice' as in many of the trucks on here, but a neat truck with lot's of potential. Heck, before it was cut up it only had 1 color. At last count it's now up to 8. Well, it's my little circus wagon and I'll provide better pics down the road, once I start driving it again.

Looking real good IMO,Nothing wrong with having one several colors.People won't mistake you for someone else, they don't me.One of a kind rat rod for me

As long as the wheels are centered and not like a clown car it's all good.
