Haven't set a date to pull it yet. I need to get it done soon. Looks like I have a place to put it now I might do it during the week to suit my schedule. A friend has volenteered his 4wd and misc support items. Anyone is welcome to join the fun though There's pics of the latest fender mod here. Thanks again!!!

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

Rain? What rain? In 10 years my sump pump has never let me down...this morning it was losing ground against the rain. The pond is over the banks and creeping up on my swimming pool. This is not rain...it is something else altogether!

If this keeps up I would not go anywhere near that truck until about August...LOL!

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

Im with 67sss, i'd cut and drag just for the motor and drive line. A freind offered me a '71 lwb Chevy and a week later it was at the house! No motor or tranny but a lot of useable stuff.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

No, it was too nasty that winter. I just looked up the new owners' number (still had the address) and left them a message. They can either tell me to eff-off or say sure, come get that thing outa here. If they don't call back I'll try again this weekend.

Ya, Truckdude bumped it because I asked for admin help to find it. I wanted to take another look at it because I'm trying to get in touch with the property owners. We'll see...

I got a one ton with a 10K pound winch we could get it out of there real easily. Just might want a couple parts off of it.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

Geez I wish I were closer. Dragging that thing out would be a ton of fun. I love challenges like that. A winch, some pullys, some chain, and a good 4x4.....mmmmm sounds like a blast.

Better yet, find someone with a tractor and just drag that thing down that winding trail you mentioned with it.

Sounds like a good opportunity for another NW meeting. Now it is raining and the ground is good and slick...it ought to just slide out of there...LOL! You plan it and we will all be there!

Still no answer (machine) at that address and they're not retuning my calls. Not looking promising... I'll post if I make any progress.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

Holy $%&*#@ guys!!! I just got off the phone with the new property owners and explained that I knew the previous owner and he had offered me the truck... yada yada and the guy said "well, I was just gonna try to get er runnin and beat on er till she died, so you're welcome to it"

He also said he's pulled it up a little ways so it's not quite as bad to get to.
So I said how does the 20th look for you? He said that'll work.

So I'm rounding up a few needed items.
  1. 4x4
  2. Auto Transport
  3. Tow Rig (could be same as #1)
  4. A Place to put it

I might be able to get all that covered with a few phone calls, but may end up needing some help.

Not sure yet if I'll part it, get it running and sell... or keep it

This one's officially back from the dead!

After all this I think the truck may have earned the right to stay whole. Good luck getting her and post lots of pics with the removal process.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

Now...if I had a trailer I could bring my 4x4 Kubota backhoe down there and yank it out fer ya!!!!! If you had treated my cousin a little better he would have come over from Gresham with this tractor and pulled it out for you as well...JK! Rent a storage space? Who has a decent 4x4 in Portland or Vancouver?

i saw in an earlier post that LHM said he'd bring the Mt Dew, but that it was too far of a drive. A year later, maybe he'll make the trip.... again
