Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Cleaned and painted most of the rear frame today. I removed all the E-Brake stuff that has not been hooked up since the rearend swap.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Also installed the flip kit just to get an idea of how it worked and how everything will line up. I got stuck because the kit changes the way the U bolts mount to the rear end. I got new U bolts that are longer and will work but the plate that they bolt to is different also now. I am going to the junk yard tomorrow to get flat ones so I can bolt it together. I looked at my Dad's 83 pickup and it has the right kind so that's what I am looking for.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Thanks Cali, the C-Notch is coming soon. A friend of mine's Dad is going to let me bring it to his house for that. He has everything I am going to need to do it plus he is going to help out. I need to get the rearend set up first so I can calculate the cut better. It will also need to get all 4s touching ground again and that's gonna take some money that I don't have just yet.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Wow it's low!!!! Flipped rearend and 2 inch lowering blocks. I think it may be a little lower than the front is going to be with the motor in. Only time will tell i guess?????

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Yes Sir! This is just how it is going to bolt together. It is all coming apart again for the C Notch and new leafs. As you can see it also needs some clean up work. I am really happy with the stance!!!

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Jebb,
Nice job on your project! I'm working on my '59 Chevy. What brand of paint did you use on your chassis? Did you primed the frame before you painted it black?
Thanks,
Leroy

No priemer needed, this is good old fashion Rustolium High Gloss! I used it on my last truck frame and found it to be very durable. I am sold on this stuff. It's cheap and you can buy it anywhere!!!! You should start a thread so we can watch your progress.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

I agree, always nice to see other people's talents and to watch a ride take shape.

Thanks Jebb1978 for the reply. I started my thread for my '59 Chevy Truck. I will add pictures at a later time. I purchased the Dupont Nason Chassis paint, but I was not sure if it needed to be primed. I'm learning as I pursue a frame-up restoration. Thanks for the info for the Rustolium paint.
Thanks,
Leroy
