Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

When finished, the tank will have 2 baffles and will be fitted below the wood bed with a chrome access door for re-fueling. Should look and perform well. I'm anxoius! Paul is going on vacation for a week, so no more progress for about 8 days. He said we'll get started on the TCI front end when he gets back!

Daniel, Glad to see you are still around...lol. I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen you on in a while. Tank is looking good and things are coming along nice.

Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks guys, I've just been busy with overtime. Paul's been away for a week, so it's time to get crack'en again! I'll try to stop by when the front end comes off and the TCI front end is put on. Should be soon! Daniel U

Yes, the one from TCI came with the C notch. It is designed after the mudstane II front end.

Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

I am using the MII from TCI on my 54 as well. I located the C-notch where they said too, but mine didn't line up with the rack and pinion worth a crap. Did you use the spacers? My rack is way forward of the c-notch.

Some more pics...Notice these are the factory short bed sides with the correct stampings. Not aftermarket ones. Many '54 parts are hard to come by if you are trying to maintain a factory(ish) look. $$$$$$

Good luck! You should find lots of ideas here. Shows are also a great place. Looking forward to seeing your project evolve. I started out wanting a OEM resto. As you can see, the build took on a life of it's own.

I'll have to ask Paul and get back to you. I decided to have my truck finished by a "PRO" for a few diferent reasons. So to be honest with you I don't know. Give me a few days to get back to you as I'm busy with O.T. to pay for his work!

I'm going to look at paint chips with my brother on Mon. He paints cars for a living. I just don't like to mix business and famiy. It should be a GM color. I'm looking for a dark green metallic. Kinda like the stock "Juniper" with metallic. I believe my truck was originally a red, then blue, then mint green, then yellow(based on the grinding I did originally on the tailgate). Everything should be wrapped in primer soon!

54Chevyls1, I took a shot of our Heidts crossmember and it has spacers between the crossmember and the rack. It is not completely tightened yet so it does not look centered in the c-notch.

Bernie

P.S. Daniel sorry about hijacking your thread.

Re: Project '54 5W Chevy HELP PLEASE!!

A quick update (and pics) before I start my double shifts at work.....Grilles in more fitment. Hood/fenders are being fitted as well. Chrome turned out GREAT! I'm happy with the way the Must.II front end makes the front wheels look. I should be able to run a wider front wheel than before. Also, the fuel and brake lines are finished.
