Re: Finally my own build thread!

Hey Poorboy before i went to work i got the dropmember in the correct spot so when i get back home tonight i will have it installed (just tacked in) and then i can put control arms on and start fabing up the front suspension. I will post some pics tonight! When i get the truck done i will swing on by and pic you up for a cruise!

AesC10s- Thanks for the complements on the frame. Yeah i built it. After i get my truck done I was thinking about building a few sets of frames for people who want a custom frame without sacrificing an arm and leg. I have alot more ideas that i am going to incorporate into my frame there just isn't enough time in the day. So i have to be patient until i get there. Anyways talk to you later. Josh

Re: Finally my own build thread!

What are you still doing with drum brakes on that thing????!

You might want to consider getting those mocked in so that you won't have any trouble with brake lines later. IMO......

I am going to be switching to rear disc i just haven't decided what setup to use yet. I want a set of willwoods or baer but not sure if i want to fork out 2500+ for brakes. After i finish with the front suspension then i am going to get the brakes situation done.

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Well i finally got the front suspension roughed in. I love it!! It looks so sweet in person! All i have to do is design the upper shockwave mounts and the front is close to being done. I will fully weld it in after i put the fenders on to make sure that i am center at dump. Man this is getting fun . The shockwaves are just sitting there for the pics. I had to see what it is going to look like.

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Thanks everyone! I just ordered some cab mounts so hopefully i can get the cab on next week so i can verify my wheel locations so i can weld everything up. I hate having to wait on something else to finish what i am trying to get done. If that make sence.

Cal58- I am glad you like the rear setup! I was curious if anyone was going to like it. It is very different which i was trying to go for. I think it will look nicer once everything is powdercoated. I wanted something more creative than the run of the mill suspension setups. There are so many of our trucks and i wanted to try to stand out. By the way your truck looks sweet!!

Re: Finally my own build thread!

YEAH!!!! I finally got my wheels back from the powdercoater. I was really worried when i got a phone call today telling me wheels are finally done. What if i picked a color that was too dark or too light and i just ruined 2k worth of wheels and not to mention i still had to pay the powdercoater, but they came out PERFECT! The look exactly what i wanted. Here is a couple pics. The first pic is pretty close to what the color looks like in person. All the other ones a little lighter because of the flash. Tommorrow i am getting the tires mounted and will take a pic or two outside with the tires on. Anyways i just had to share them.

what size wheels are they?

I really like your frame, do I even want to know how many hours you have in working on it?

Josh, the front looks great! Drop member goodness at it's best for sure. Hat's off to Nathan as well, perfect as always.

Those wheels look great too, mind if I ask what you spent on the powder job? I found a cool high gloss trans black powder that I am going to use if I end up running the Escalade wheels.

They are 20x8.5 and 20x10. I do have alot of hours into this frame but i believe i probably have more hours messing around with the rear suspension and making the brackets for the 4 link than i do actually building the frame. I have plans to build another truck after this one and i am buying a CNC plasma before i even start decided on what i want to do to the truck. I am so tired of making brackets, rocker arms to find out that i needed to make it a little larger or drill a hole in a different spot. On the other hand i have never done anything like this before so i am learning as i go. I will say that it is very rewarding seeing what you can build and knowing that you did it. I still have alot more to do. O'well

Josh

Hey Jimmy! I ended up paying $320 for the wheels to be powdercoated. I ordered a special color so i had to pay $40 for the powder and since i left the lip chrome there was alot of masking. The total came out to $380. It was a little high but i couldn't find anyone that would chance doing it. They were all scared that the chrome with discolor or pop. Well they were right. When he was sandblasting them some of the chrome lifted and he ended up buying me 2 new wheels. I was impressed that he didn't try and stiff me. The wheels aren't cheap. Normally i would think that it should have been $225-250. He did a beautiful job though. So i won't complain about the amount. Good luck and keep me posted on your progress. I saw your post that you got it all on air. LOOKS SWEET!!!!!!

Josh
