Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

No, not going to make my own park brake. Just moving it over to the proper side! Need to get started on the rust now.

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

I was just looking at post #53 with the rear brake components all hooked up. Are those calipers on the right sides? It looks like the bleeders are below where the flexible brake hose attaches to the caliper. Usually that means you won't be able to properly bleed all the air out of the system, compared to having the bleeder at the top where the air can escape when the bleeders are cracked.

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

Good spotting on the calipers. I choose to run them that way to put the ebrake cable up on top out of the way. Hopefully it won't be to much problem to release the cables, turn the calipers and bleed them, then reinstall. Well that's my story anyway!

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

Thanks Evan.

Some photo's for 6772owner. Just to confirm, headers are Headman 69830's. Looks close, but I think it'll be ok. I used 2 1/2" pipe. And you could route the pipe slightly away anyway.

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

Those look like good headers, I need to find some I like. Does the coating look like its going to hold up good?

Any progress on the truck?

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

You guys are absolutely right, I'm slacking down here. It is summer and I should be working on my truck! Seemed to be a long winter, well thats my story. I have done a little more, and have big plans for the next month.

I have finished up most all of the conversion work on the firewall and dash. Everything is pretty much welded up as well. I had to get the park brake deal sorted out, but it ended up ok I think.

Going to mirror the firewall corner and blank off the blower vent (with Nate Porter's patch's), then that should nearly wrap up the firewall work.

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

I have been working on the inside as well. The dash/glovebox deal is all welded up. Old Air is mounted (just needs final spot welding of supports), and I am working on mounting the gate that controls hot air to the windscreen/feet. The Old Air box only has one outlet for hot so I am going to modify the origonal gate deal to work RHD.

I have also mounted up my MSD box and timing controller. Didn't want it in the engine bay so made up a plate to mount them in the back of the glove box. Will probably put my fuse box in front of the ignition as well. I brought the timing controller because I am going to run propane/petrol. Not really the answer but I own it now so may as well put it in.

So I want to get the heating/cooling sorted out then that will pretty much finish under dash except for the fuse box/wiring. That will leave wipers as the main thing left to convert over I think. Oh, and I swaped over the ignition/lighter and finished up welding the brake pedal brace panel deal.

The rust is now the main project. I just bought in a small box of bit's, including the last couple of patch panels I needed. (Thanks Wes!). My kids left Wednesday for four and a half weeks in Ireland with their Mother so I am home alone! I am self employed so will work right through the holidays, but hopefully besides breakdowns, most of my clients will stay away anyway. I am really hopeful of setting aside some time and making a good start on rockers, cab supports, rear cab corners, well you all know the routine! So no excuses really. I need to watch Earl's DVD's again and get after it!

I was going to make some comment about how I thought it never got cold in Texas, but I just checked your weather report and it says your current temp is 2.7C. Thats coolish I guess.

Re: 41DegreesSouth Build Thread

Hope everyone survived the Christmas break. I decided to skip work and start on the rust. Started on the left side cause if it don't turn out so good I won't see it getting in the truck!
Usual stuff, front cab support half gone, rear completely gone. Bottom of A and B pillers gone. Kick panel and floor area, plus rockers and cab corners. So I got it cut out.....now what!!
Going to be an interesting afternoon! What did he say, 'I didn't lose my mind, it was mine to give away!'

Now ya got my attention again.

Question tho is it more of an illusion or did the rear of the cab spring out at the door jam when you removed the rocker?
