Re: My '51 Project
1 off engine mounts
built by by the shop that did my suspension welding He used 1/2 id stock so the the 7/16 " bolts slide in easier. Also made the left side a little thinner on the bottom so the steering will clearance. Transmission (700r4) has a CH clearance and driveshaft is 1/2 " from the rear crossmember when the truck is aired out. Plus the tranny crossmember has some good stock below the pan if we ever go that low. Very pleased with the work he did!

is there a website with some info of that system . i've been looking at something simulair from suicide doors the buttonbox from that one mounts to the dash and has all up all down , side to side , every corner and a preset height .

Re: My '51 Project
yea I use that as a ow profile creeper! lol
whatyaknow, I looked at the one on suicide doors, I liked it, this one was a little less and it doesn't have presets. The levels I looked at were the; Basic Dial Guages and switches (with a lot of wiring and plumbing to the dash) Digital Like the one I got Presets like the one on suicidedoors, or air ride Ride height control with presets This is deluxe like accuair or air rides new levelpro it's also too much $ for me I decided if I wasn't going for the level pro the presets for the others are air pressures and I could set it pretty easy with the digital guage. That's my reasoning. http://arnottairride.com/ I found them on ebay

Re: My '51 Project
Now that she sits down on the ground, any second thoughts about skid plates to save the running board supports in case of an air bag malfunction. I know that these bags have come a long way, but the skid plates are cheap insurance. Just my .02 BTW, she looks sweet sitting down!

Re: My '51 Project
nice.... you don't need an alarm for your truck just hide the master air switch so anyone trying to drive it cant get it off the ground unless they know what to turn on....
my dad told me about a guy that used a refigrator magnet to turn on the inition to his ride. all he had to do was position the magnet on the dash and the truck ran. move it over and it won't start...

Re: My '51 Project
Believe it or not it rolls fine at this height.
I had one of the lines pop off and it does not hit! It was built with stock bed height in mind and 1/2" on the front crossmember.

Re: My '51 Project
stevehsd, I would appreciate it if you let me know how well the air control system works. I have been talking to the company and I am leaning towards one of their systems, but I haven't been able to find anyone that has actually used their product................the only part that I am hesitant on is that they use 1/8 lines as opposed to air ride tech that use 1/4 lines......anyway please let me know your thoughts.....thanks, Bob

Re: My '51 Project
They use 1/4" lines
the thing is it's a 1/4" line from the tank to the valve box, that then goes to the 4 corners. If you're into fast get 1/2" lines with valves to each corner. I like this system cause it has an air dryer and only 6 valves instead of 8, less potential for problems! It really was easy to set up and as far as presets it's like a sleep number bed, plus when you put front up it evens them out, or all 4 for that matter. If you only had individual controls you would have to match left and right pressures. Like I said before deluxe would be height sensors instead of pressure sensors. So far I'm more than pleased with this system. With the 2 1/2 gal tank and compressor it takes 2 minutes for the tank to fill up from 110-150 psi (the tank sensor that they supply) and it can go up and down several times before it kicks on. Not fast or loud, but I like it. I'd say less than 10 seconds to go from 0 to 100 psi in front, less for the light rear end.

Re: My '51 Project
Got the exhaust in with 30" smithy's
Got to change the alt. Got a bad problem with gas, need to flush the tank or put a new one in, it actually clogged the fuel pump! Got a vibration in the driveline at the rear of the tranny, and would like to hear advice on pinion angles. Got to get this thing going before Billetproof on Sept. 15 to see it's first show. Over 100 mi away. But, Got it goin around the Block! I'm stoked!

Re: My '51 Project
does the driveline have any angle at all or is it flat? I have heard that flat is worse then too much angle.
Also, what about the driveline. Is is a custom job. I have heard if you are making a driveline longer/shorter and do not weld it up square you will get vibrations.

Re: My '51 Project
Rear of trans is usually 3% to 5% pointing down ( to make the carb base level at ride height) Pinion is then the same only pointing up to match trans down angle.

Re: My '51 Project
don't you want a couple degrees down on the pinion to allow for the pinion to rise under power?

Re: My '51 Project
i have read that you want the pinion 2-3 degrees down from the angle of the drive shaft, so that under power the angle of the rear u-joint is zero, and therefore wears the least, and eats up the least power

Re: My '51 Project
Thanks for the info! Looks like I may be OK +- a degree or 2.
Replaced the tank today. Chevy Duty (Classic Parts) had the best price (based on my limmited research). I made my own straps, but have a new sender and everything else. It got so bad that the rust clogged the fuel pump. Also I got the new 100 W 1 wire alternator.
