I have no "trade secrets"! There is no panel you CAN'T get behind to hammer and dolly (if you remove the panel or the pieces behind it). That's a lot of extra work, and not everybody wants to pay for that level of work. I have had good success with the MIG for those areas where the budget won't allow for the added time of panel removal and re-installation to properly hammer and dolly the TIG weld. (Fortunately, I am becoming able to pick and choose the work that comes in, and am beginning to focus more on the chassis and suspension for my 'meat and potatoes' and then selecting the sheetmetal jobs where customers are wanting the highest quality work and are willing to pay for the extra time). With the MIG, the same process of tacking and then grinding the tack down one spot weld at a time, and remaining patient throughout the process, has always yielded good results.

I have really skinny arms!

That is one area where "budget" necessitated the MIG process. It would be "ideal" to remove the inner roof panel... but most people wouldn't want to pay for that!

If anything short of magnificant comes out of my brain, just shoot me. The work is, well, magnificant. The execution seems to be brilliant. The results are evident.

As to coloration, I am partial to the black rendering. But I like the red centers on the initial rendering, and would like to see the two combined....all black body with the red center wheels. Would that be a new/old school effect? It seems to me that you are on the way to upstage the Joel McPherson yellow ride of a few years back.

Pancaking the hood to accomodate the tires is a clean touch. Keep up the good work and the postings. I have been off of the board for a while....and I have missed the happenings (a stroke last year) but I will keep this thread in mind.

We started back on the 67 again.... a little off the top!

I haven't chopped one of these trucks before. So after lots of thought I made a plan of attack and started cutting. After bracing up the cab, we marked our cuts (1.5") on the A and B pillars. we then removed the material and lined the B pillars back up best we could (we will pie-cut and move the metal around to line it up perfectly later). We then set the roof angle where we thought it looked good and tacked in some supports to keep it there. Then we sliced and layed the lower half of the A pillar back, and brought the upper half of the A pillar up until they lined up. We have them clamped together with a piece of tubing in the pics. It's a pretty subtle mod, but should be pretty slick when we get it all finished up.

I will try and get some good pics of it rolled outside tomorrow.
