Re: 71 Cheyenne in Chandler

BTW, I was going to paint the inner fenders and rad support with eastwoods underhood black but the rest of the truck is turning out so nice I wanted under the hood to be a little nicer.
SO, I wanted to try Duplicolors paint system, I bought the primer base and clear from Autozone for $72. It took about 2 hours start to finish to spray it all and I think they came out really nice.
Not sure I would paint a whole car with it, but you could.
There were no suprises and it layed out very easy. I sprayed it at my painters place but I did most of the spraying with his guidance.

Re: 71 Cheyenne in Chandler

IT LIVES!!! I got the LS1 running today. I had a few injectors stick, I had it running on 2.5 cylinders, once I tapped on all of them with a screw driver it runs perfect!

I should be driving it in a month or so, at least around the block.

Re: 71 Cheyenne in Chandler

I got to drive it around the block today, it's not done by a long shot but mechanically it's solid. Shot a couple of pictures also. Enjoy...

Re: 71 Cheyenne in Chandler

Latest update, I drove it to Tucson for Super Chevy last weekend, about 120 miles each way. I ran it on the 1/4 mile twice and it went 14.39 with my 20's on it and the scale said 3920 with me in it. I think that's prety good for basicly a stock LS1 with headers and a CAI and no tuning to the computer. I had to back off the throttle to let it shift and I had to baby it off the line.

I did not even take any tools with me...
It cruised 75 at 1900 RPM and was a lot of fun!!
I also ran into the guy I bought the truck from and he liked it very much.

Re: 71 Cheyenne in Chandler

Too cool! I am not a yellow guy except the darker Vette Canary yellows, but my brother had a butternut yellow 67 chevelle many years ago. I am building a 67 in his memory and will more than likely use the butternut yellow color as it'll be "his car". Looks sweet and glad to hear the LS1 works good for ya!

This is the product we used, the paint store gave us a small can of the same pigment used in the regular paint. It really looks great up close.

It seems to be very tough but I don't plan on loading a lot of heavy or sharp stuff in the bad, I do plan on coating my 2008 bed with it later this year.

Excellent work. Truck looks great and I'm gonna need to research that bed liner myself. I want to match mine to the medium olive green.

I'd like to have that Malibu you sold too..................... i'm just sayin..........

Re: 71 Cheyenne in Chandler

Went to a car show last night and on Friday night.
thought I would update what the truck looks like now.
I still need to buy trim and finish the interior but it shows nicely and always draws a crowd.

I will have trim on it eventually, I just have to buy it. It's a real Cheyenne so with the two tone paint it must have trim. IMHO.

Yeah I agree. Same with mine. The total trim package is like 1000.00 though right?

Actually on Friday I was at Ocotillo and AZ Ave, there must have been 150 cars there, it was packed. It was also the season opener. I forgot my camera both nights .
Saturday we were at the Sonic at Higley and Germann they do it once a month.

I'd really like to meet up and hit a show. I'll post a meet in a couple of weeks and see what we can do.
I need to print out the web address for this site, I've met some really nice guys with Chevy trucks that do not know about the site. I always ask "are you on the site?" Like everyone should know which site I'm talking about...
