Thanks for all the compliments! The sandblaster said my wheels should be done Tuesday. Hopefully i should have them painted and back on by Friday. Then i can get the bed back on and work my way to the front.

Sweet project, I'm hoping to do a raised bed floor like yours pretty soon. Keep up the good work.

Re: Project "cheapskate 65"

why did you change the factory spring perch mounts or was your truck a T/A truck? My '66 is a leaf truck and your setup is almost identical to what mine will get but hung from the factory spring perch.

Sorry for being stupid but what is a T/A truck? if you are refering to the mounts i made for my trailing arms there were none there from the factory. My truck was a coil spring truck.

Re: Project "cheapskate 65"

Nice work. I really like the floor. Are you just using the front most and the rear most cross sills to support the bed? If so, do you think it will be strong enough as is or have/are you going to add additional support? I'm planning on doing something similar on my build. Any insight would be a great help.

Yes and No I did just use the front and rear cross sills and it did feel kinda flimsy after i did a test fit of the wood so..... i did add some addl. supports that attach from the floor support to the frame. If you want i can get some pictures of those as well.

Looks great, I love the flake. I wanted to flake the wheels and dash on my '50 but wussed out.

Re: Project "cheapskate 65"

Thanks for all the positive comments! I wasn't sure about the flaked wheels but i couldn't find any wheels with the proper offset in 15". Now that they are painted and on the truck i think it really brings out the style i was going after.
My goal is to have it complete for the Carlisle all truck nationals August 5th-7th but, that was my goal for the last 2 years! I am pretty close so hopefully we will be there this year!
