Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

You might guess that Matt keeps me pretty busy with all his projects. LOL
Hope to get this one going by the end of the year. Just need to swap out the engine. And get the title straightened out. And do the bed wood, etc.

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

What transmission?
How neat on the crossmember removal?
What do I/we need to swap.
For those reading and don't know, I'm working in Casper, WY currently and Matt is in Texas.

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

Well I was thinking putting in the I-6 I painted up for Sano

And in an effort not to make it too much of a project I was thinking leaving the 3-ott in it with a new clutch

I was planning a 700R4 and an auto column. Give me a lil to ponder that.

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

I have RBT (67 short narrow), Agent (67 long wide), un-named future project (72 short wide) and a 68 short narrow for sale.
So 4 in the 67-72 range. And a 69 Burb. I only own 1 parts truck, and one day hope to find enough parts to put it together also.
Also a variety of 73 and newer. I also have a few 70s and 80s Dodges.
This doesn't count what Spray-Bomb (Matt) owns.

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

Well guys here is a progress report (sorry it took so long, I kept forgetting my camera at the shop)

We started by pulling the old 250 out, that had a busted block & mixed oil in water & water in oil

Then we started putting the "new" 250 integrated head in, when we noticed that the POS exhaust came out in the way of the Z-bar bracket, so we had to make a new one

Then once it was all in we figured out that when we changed to the V-8 clutch that we should have used a short throwout bearing

So I had to pull the trans back & swap them out & re-adjust the clutch

But now it is running & driving, inspected & will be tagged tomorrow

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

Glad you got it going.
Does it seem solid?
What did you do for exhaust?

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

Still need to hook up the vacuum advance & time it correctly, but it runs ok

And I hooked up the stock exhaust for getting it legal, & till I can make something better / cooler

Need to double check the clutch adjustment, as it still grinds a bit going into gear

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

Does grind just when going into first or reverse? Or does it grind also when shifting from 1st to 2nd and/or 2nd to 3rd?

Re: Project... Rusty but Trusty

Does anyone know on the exhaust preheat flapper valve thingy.
Does the vacuum open it or close it?
Which way would the arm need to be for normal "warmed up" operation, no preheat?
