Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
I'm just tied of everyone putting there 2+ cents about stupid stuff! I just pointed out scoti because this guy is posting like every other post about some thing stupid. What does it matter how came out with what first or it look like that or this! Does Scoti work for Nate or SD it doesn't affect you. The only one it affects is Nate and hes being cool about it... That's all I'm saying, people start drama on here because thay have nothing else better to do!! 6,507 is alot of bluid time.

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Let me say that Nate builds on fine product and is a stand up guy.... I liked his dropmember so much it was the building block for the design of the one I built for my project. A blind man could have seen this coming, no one in america is going to let one person be the only man making money off things they can copy and make money off of theirselves. Anyone can reverse engineer something but it takes a lot of effort, smarts, and know how to be the first person to design and build something from scratch with nothing to go by but a idea in his head. I caught a bunch of crap for building mine but Nathan didn't have anything negative to say about it and I appreciate it, if I could have spared the change at the time for a dropmember I would have. All I am saying is Nathan deserves a lot of credit for be the "innovator" of what is in my opnion one of the best products ever devloped for 67-87 c10 trucks and blazers. Most people will agree and that is the only reason you are catching a little crap. Nathan is always glad to answer most any question I have seen someone ask him, lord knows I have asked a few myself and he has never steered me wrong.

Scoti and Nate are both LOOOONG time members here, unlike yourself, and offer tons of knowledge and experience, again unlike yourself. As far as it mattering who made what first, it most certainly does matter and I'm pretty sure 99% of the members here will continue to buy from Nate and mark SD off their list when it comes time to purchase parts. What you new guys may not understand is this is MORE than an internet message board. This is a group of guys that gather together and discuss a common passion. We may have our tiffs among ourselves from time to time, but we don't take lightly someone ELSE coming into our group simply to beat their chests and stir the pot. As far as the drama you refer to ... there wasn't any until you started posting. Go back to the mini truck sites and troll there ... it's full of young guys such as yourself that "know it all" yet "do nothing" p.s. nice edit on the sig link there Mr. Victoria's Secret... Scoti is a stand up member here ,6507 posts may be alot of build time, but it's also alot of helping people out on here. With years of experience and knowledge ,steering people in the right direction.

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
competition keeps everyone honest on the price. Im all for it.
Nate- feel humble they used you as the leg work. I really dont see how anyone can really be upset though. We in American live in an almost complete competition market economy. In the end its just another bolt in crossmember. Now if only gas would go on competition instead of speculation I could cruise more often. |

You take something, then figure out how it's made so you can make it yourself.
Like the Chinese do with Nike shoes, or Microsoft does with internet technologies.

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Using an existing part to figure out how everything works, where it goes, & possible ways to improve vs. starting from nothing.

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
im just asking for everyone's sake......why the hate?
PB's product is great, and im sure SD's product will be great once in full production too. If one was good, two can only lead to better things. We're all here for the same reason.

It's not hate at all. It's disappointment. The SD peice is what it is. A knock-off. It is visually and functionally so similar that anyone not in the know would think they were both the same product. Suicide doors got a dropmember in their hands and rather than do right by it's creator and become dealers they STOLE and reverse engineered a design to put a few extra dollars in their accounts. They deal Airlift, ART, KP why not Porterbuilt? Why not do the right thing? Nathan put his time and energy into the design. It's how he feeds and provides for his family. I want all of you in the SD fanboy camp to think about that. Put yourselves in his shoes. How would any of you say that whatever your job is it would be great if somebody came in and started doing what you do and potentially risked your ability to provide for your future? You'd be pretty pissed. I know I would. I thought more of the SD crew. I really did. As a die hard mini trucker I thought they did a good service. I want to beleive this is all a joke, but it's not and after counting the number of ad pages in the new MT and these most recent business tactics I am truly willing to stand by my comparison to AIM. Joe is that you? I'm ready to trade my soul for a cheap knock off. I have no hate, only pity Josh PS the fact that Nate has been so gracious about this speaks volumes. The fact that not only his customers but others too have defended him this profoundly speaks even more

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Wow... seems like the trolls came a runnin' to this topic. Must be ruffling a few feathers somewhere...
Guys, we know who the stand up people are here. It's America. Let em have their opinions and lets go on with our fun here on the forums. They will be weeded out soon enough. This has turned into nothing more than a big pissing match, and it cheapens the forum. Like I said before, the people "in the know" will still go to Nate. Competition is good, and like Nate said, he expected this to happen. It's the nature of the beast. I have no doubt that Nate will survive and probably go on to produce even more innovative products. Just imagine Apple and IBM back in the day....
