Perhaps you will get more feedback, by posting your question about dropping your truck in another post, maybe in the Suspension forum and not "Where are the stockers?".

Chief:

Not what I would expect as a site Moderator, but I know you don't mean anything by that.

Don't get offended because I like to preserve the vintage looks/lines of the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks...In all honesty, what you guys are able to do is pretty amazing and I admire the skill and creativity required to do the things you do.

I admire the work done by you and many of the other customizer/fabricators and I respect the expertise offered by you and the others that customize their 4-5-6 Chevy trucks.

I can't tell for sure, but your mirrors look like stock Jr. West Coast mirrors and they were available on the '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks.

In any case, you have a very nice looking rig and thanks for sharing.

They may be the same style as used on the Chevy/GMC trucks. I am sure the mirror supplier sold their mirrors to the big three. I have seen that style mirror in my manufacturer's/dealer literature and I have a few sets, also.

In any case, they look nice and your rig is a good example of an original runner. Thanks for contributing.

Re: Where are the stockers?

I always thought "stock" was when a vehicle has the same equipment and appearance as it had when new. It should resemble the look when the guy at the dealership handed the keys over to the original buyer. For a clue, look at my avatar.

Re: Where are the stockers?

Yeah, i would have to agree, the term "stock" is used many times when it doesn't fit. changing wheels, color, upgrading suspension, upgrading brakes, performace parts, or adding after-market goodies nullifies "stock"
guess you could even say that using re-popped parts would also

Re: Where are the stockers?

I have a 2000 Chevy Z71 Tahoe with aftermarket wheels on it, but I would consider it stock.

I have done many upgrades to my 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, utilizing good, used factory/OEM/NOS parts, with few exceptions. If I get real crazy, I might replace some factory bolts with the same style, but stainless steel. Maybe the disparity is in the words "stock" or "factory original".

I have viewed thousands of 4-5-6 Chevy trucks over the years that are titled "stock" only to see that there are mismatched dash knobs, later model seat belts, steering wheel, seat, foot pedals, radio, etc, to name a few.

I am not into splitting hairs, but I consider something stock, if it was available during the production years of said truck. For the most part, many of the accessories available on these truck was dealer installed from a kit supplied to the dealer.

If a truck has been smoothed, lowered, slammed, channeled, chopped, dropped or butchered, I don't consider that in the stock category. This post was intended to allow others who lean toward the stock/factory look/fit/finish, to post their trucks, not to decide what constitutes stock.

I bet a Thread entitled "What is Stock" would generate a lot of interest. In the meantime, I am hopeful that more members will post their examples of stock 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, as this thread was intended.

Good point and I think "resemble" is the operative word, because a lot of trucks I see today, do not "resemble the look when the guy at the dealership handed the keys over to the original buyer", therefore I don't consider them stock.

Everyone has his or her vision of what they like. If you like all stock rigs that is great, but what makes hot rodding so much fun is the diversity and, this is a hot rod site with some stockers. As you stated in the Quote below

This is what makes building hot rods fun. Anyone can put together a stocker, "Part A bolts to part B "it takes a lot of skill and dedication to really build a custom hot rod...These trucks will be much more desired.

What would you call this....

Many/most trucks I see posted on this site and many just like it, fall victim to slamming/chopping/"z"-ing/channeling/smoothing and every other personal touch known to man.

Just an observation...wouldn't it be a travesty if most/many Corvettes/Chevelles/Cameros/Mopars/Mustangs/etc/etc/etc were butchered up with these personal touches, only to be de-valued/depreciated long before their time. I have and will continue to scratch my head wondering why many/most '60-'66 Chevy truck owners are so compelled to go to work on these trucks, to, in their opinion, make them better.

Once again, I emphatically state that I am not a hater, I just struggle with the notion that many/most of these trucks need to be radically modified, in order to be set apart from everyone else, even though there are not that many of them on the road compared to the '50-'59's and the '67-'72's.

It would be refreshing to see a new member posting photos of his/her newly purchased '60-'66 Chevy truck and not read/see the majority of the replies suggesting that "it sure would look good with a body drop/laying frame/dragging ass/rolling on 22's/etc/etc/etc". With the number of these trucks going to the crusher/rusting to the frame rails/being chopped up, there aren't going to be many stockers left.

I really don't see the need to bring quotes from other threads to hi-jack another so you can make your point.

I'll bring this back around to more pics, more from the files- the c60 to c80's hardly ever get restored, here are a couple shots that I have found, and a few other factory shots:
