So in other words, you would use either the bulkhead, OR the remote res. w.billet MC cover?? Last edited by jlaird; 02-04-2009 at 09:58 PM. |

the remote reservoir is simply that, a remote reservoir. If you want to mount it on the firewall, then you can run run the lines to the master cylinder out the back of it, through the firewall, and into the master cylinder with the billet cap; doing it that way, you'll see no lines. and remember it's just a fill line with little to no pressure. The bulkhead is to get your brake lines from the master cylinder back through the firewall, to your brakes. with an under the frame set up, you wouldn't need this because the master cylinder is already on the frame, but since the master cylinder is in the cab with the under the dash unit, you need to get them back out somewhere. Since the bulkhead is good looking, you can mount it high on the firewall too, or you can run the brake lines lower in the cab, and exit the firewall somewhere near the kick panel so it's hidden.. I hope that explains it some.

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
For those of you considering this mod, make sure you understand the implications... In the pic below, note that there is no room for the wiper motor. You'll have to run something from the other wiper arm or get used to Rain-X.
Also, I don't get the bulkhead... have you guys found a market for it? After going to the trouble of shaving the booster and mc, why would someone bolt such a thing onto their otherwise clean firewall? I routed my lines down the inside of the firewall and out the floor, then straight over to the frame rail. They can't be seen from under the hood, and will be hidden inside as well once I get to working on that. You can also run the lines over to the left kick panel and plumb them out the bottom of the cowl.

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
Then what are these lines? Would these be plugged if the lines come through the back?

Yeah, there are provisions for both; these would be plugged

You're right once you've cleaned up the firewall, why put something back on it? Well, if the firewall is nice and clean and all you have are 2 small polished billet parts on it, it would look slick.

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
Is there room for a stock style proportioning valve that mounts on the booster/mc assembly?

Do not have the answer for you, In all of our builds we do we always use a wilwood proportioning valve and there will be room for that.Hopefully this helps you out. Justin www.scottshotrods.com |

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
justin,
I see in some of your pictures you mount the adj. prop valve near the axle. Is there a reason for mounting it there? |

The reason for mounting it in the rear it is alot easier to adjust the prop valve and get to it. On the adjustable valve it is meant to go to the rear for increase brake pressure. Justin www.scottshotrods.com |

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
I'm not sure I understand this. A prop valve doesn't increase pressure. It diverts pressure to and fro.

What Justin means is that it increases pressure to the front by diverting it from the rear. The actual psi of the brake system does not change, but it will increase to the front if it is reduced in the rear.

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
Thanks for the reply. What do you guys do for the brake light switch? Inline hydraulic switch? Where do you mount that?

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
brake lights are for sissy's......LOL.
typically we use an inline hydraulic switch mounted right at the master cylinder. On a dual port master cylinder (where the ports are on both sides)you can run it on either of the second set of ports, or you can run it inline on a standard master cylinder.

Do you ever run a plunger style switch with your underdash pedal assemblies? Last edited by jlaird; 03-26-2009 at 03:28 PM. |

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
I'm using a stock plunger switch with my Kugel setup. It was already wired and in place, so just needed to align the bracket to the pedal arm. Pressure switch is fancier, but probably not needed unless you want to clean up the pedal arm clutter.

Re: Here's those pics of the under dash pedal assembly
A really informative post along with images as it does help over coming lack of technical know hows and names of parts as it sometimes adds confusion in mind and helps in knowing the parts there functioning and query to problems as well.
