Re: Update...Insuring your truck...a note of caution.

I wanted to give an update on my insurance purchase.

I received insurance quotes from three company's, Grundy, Hagerty, and American Collector. Two vehicles, my 1968 C-10 and my 1958 Chevy Biscayne. The C-10 with an agreed value of $50K, the 1958 Biscayne with an agreed value of $25k. The quotes were $585, $555, and $645 respectfully.

I contacted Barrett Jackson Insurance and received a quote from them.

The quote was $378 for the same coverage with no usage restrictions. I went with Barrett Jackson.

Soooo how long has Barrett Jackson been insuring vehicles? I wonder if they are an agent for one of the other Insurance companies? Google time...

Re: Update...Insuring your truck...a note of caution.

Tom,
I checked out the link and I'm interested but I didn't see anything on driving restrictions. The price they quoted me was very low and I signed up for an agent to contact me. Just wondered where you found the info on the unlimited driving you mentioned. Thanks for posting the link. I had no idea that Barrett-Jackson was even an option.

Re: Update...Insuring your truck...a note of caution.

I talked to an agent today, asked lots of questions. She told me they had no restrictions.

Re: Update...Insuring your truck...a note of caution.

I just did an estimate and for $30,000 covarage my annual cost would be $206. I will be giving them a call also to ask some questions. Again thanks for the heads up on Barrett Jackson Insurance.

Here's the disclaimer on their intro. page.
Classic, antique, exotic, special interest, or limited edition cars that you use in car club activities, exhibitions, parades, or for private collection, drive infrequently and store in a fully enclosed, locked garage (or other secured location) when not in use.”

Did they give you a reason? Just kind of curious, I see a ton of Wally World campers. Vandalism maybe? Wal-Mart drivers?

Re: Update...Insuring your truck...a note of caution.

They did not spell it out entirely, i just assume that everything from 3am drunks to errant shopping carts has the insurance companies not liking WalMart parking lots. If you look at about every light pole in a WallyMart lot, they have a very extensive "we are not responsible" sign that must have teeth against the insurance companies. A friend with a different carrier said he got the same notice for his RV policy.

which is no big deal for me because I was tired of the dudes in their zoom-zoom cars impressing me with their burnouts when they see the race car rig....at 4 am...

X2. I also have State Farm and I can drive whenever and wherever. Maybe it's different for me as I drive my truck daily. I have mine insured for a stated value and an apprasial to match. I pay a bit more for full coverage and it's worth it. You never know what will happen.
