kyb shocks/ part numbers

After reading all the shock threads I went with the 344068 (front) and 344067 for the rear Both sets bought on Amazon for $74 shipped and free returns; cant beat that- I have a 64 c10 with bags no cnotch and my ride is terrible - I will report back when they arrive and I get them installed (if they fit)

got the fronts on tonight only had to file down the socket housing slightly to get it to fit. The rears im going to need to do the same thing but they will need filing to fit. will report back this weekend.

Are you using the rear shock relocators?
Without them the shock angle is way too flat to make the shocks work.

I believe I do - here is the picture I took after I soaked the Rears with Penetrating oil - From what I have seen those are shock relocation brackets. Also when I mocked up the new shocks they seemed to fit right in place, just needed to grind the eyes down to slide in.

Those are the stock shock mounts.
Still riveted in from the factory.

Thanks for the clarification; the shocks I purchased (344067) - that I think you mentioned seemed to fit right it. I will try and get under tonight and report back - if not by end of the weekend.

They might fit but the angle keeps them from working correctly (even if they're better vs the current units). If you drop a truck arm equipped truck, you need to relocate the shock to a more 'upright' position.

New issue I have run into - the front right shock seems to bottom out before the front left when dropping my bags.....any idea on why this would be? Just bought front shock relocators so will be under there this weekend. Part number 344068 btw.

I'm surprised none of our customers have responded as we've told all that ask.
ANY, I REPEAT AMY, shock that is made for your stock 1967-72 truck at normal ride height is ALSO the correct shock for those trucks with front & rear drop kits of ANY DROP Height. So if you use 1-5 1/2" drop in the front you still use the same shock. If you use 1-6" drop in the rear you still use the same shock. ECE, No limit, Classic, Brothers, everyone is selling shocks that are made to stick travel specifications. Now your asking why this is true. The reason is with any of the drops I listed above the stock shocks minimum & maximum travel distances are not exceeded. Since the shocks travel limits are still within spec, the stock shock length is still used.
NOW in the rear once you hit about a 5" rear drop the shock has become to horizontal to absorb vertical travel effectively. So you then install rear shock relocators in the rear to make the shocks more vertical again so that they can then absorb the vertical travel of the truck. ( It's also my understanding though I have not tried it yet, that if you move the rear lower shock bracket from left side to the right, and the right side to the left this will also correct the shock angle back to a more vertical position eliminating the need for rear shock relocators. ) But again I've not checked this myself on just swapping the lower mounts from 1 side to the other. I'm just reporting what I've heard from several low budget builders.
So everyone out determine the type of ride that you want based on you and your driving habits then look up the shocks and look for comfort, sport, off road etc.... based on your driving style & preference's and then purchase the stock shock for your truck in that type of shock. KYB GR-2 soft comfortable ride, KYB gas a just shocks give a firmer ride , etc.....
Then buy from who you choose. If your already buying parts from 1 location and the shocks they have only cost a little more than the cheapest place you've found get the shocks from where your buying your other parts unless your getting free shipping.

This is an old thread, but I'm wondering how everyone likes their KYB shocks that they have installed over the years for lowered trucks?

I installed the standard KYB Excel -G shocks (black) from the ECE lowering kit and wish I had upgraded to the Gas-Adjust (gray). The ride could be stiffer for a more sporty ride.

Bumping this great thread...

Needing new front shocks and wanting to go back with KYB which is already installed, I was getting no traction until I found this thread.

ECE, right now anyway, is gone. Just ordered a set of 344068's from Summit.

EDIT: next day: got an email this morning stating that my new shocks are on the delivery vehicle. Guess it helps to live within an hour's drive of the SummitRacing warehouse! i would have burned more than the 10 dollars shipping cost worth of fuel to drive my BBC truck to pick them up! Happy Camper here.

I hate to add onto a old thread. But it's perfectly timed. I was wondering does anyone know the part number for the kyb's for a level 3 rear dropmember? I can find them with a eyelet/stud. But not an eyelet/eyelet.

Got my 344068's installed up front. This mostly cured the issue I was trying to fix: bouncy front end hitting the stops when driving over just the right frequency of rises and falls in the roadway at the right speed ( too fast ).

However, it's still a bit soft for my liking so...I now realize I should have got the gas adjust version of these KYBs. Guess I'm going to order those now. Hopefully I can use these 344068s in the rear!
