Man I loved that burb the first time I saw in truckin' because of the silverado truck frontend. Would look cool with the SS bumper cover or fully painted bumperS. I didn't like the grey bumpers on my 07 silverado classic either so I'm not knocking ur truck.

I'll find or take some pics, everything was done to the front lol, tubbed firewall, hydro boost brake conversion, narrowed track width a couple inches, custom upper and lower a arms, all custom steering, raised uppers, stock upper sping pockets are cut off now has tubular upper bag mounts pretty much everything was changed to get 28"s to fit and lay frame. Its actually set up to lay body on a 28" wheel and tire, just need to do the stock floor BD just havent had time

To LooseCannon, Awesome! I love the wheel choice also.

Last summer I purchased my wife an '05 suburban LT in the same condition as yours for $16, and man this thing is immaculate and rides like a dream, but as I'm into lowered vehicles, I am tryin to convince her to let me at least lower it on some 22's if not bag it. Love the look!
Heres ours with no drop yet lol

Very nice build! What rear shocks are you using (going to use) and what modifications did you have to do for the rear shocks? Anymore modifications planned for the Burb?

Nice Burb. Noticed you changed you the taillight housings/lenses to an led setup.....what Brand/Model/part number? I really like the look of those housing/lenses and I need to replace the cracked ones on my wifes burb.

Thanks, they are recon brand which personally I think is thebest quality, but they are pricey at $350ish. Got them from stylintrucks.com

My 01 silverado also has the recons but I went ahead and blacked em out all the way, they can be seen in my link in my sig.

Loosecannon-I might've missed it but how much did this change ride quality?

I used the rear shocks that came with the cool ride setup. No mods required. I'm just enjoying driving the beast and don't have plans for more mods, at least not yet .

Nice burb! I like your grill insert and painted door moldings. The ride quality with the air suspension is awesome. I run about 105 PSI in the front and 55 PSI in the rear with 9 clicks on the shockwaves. It's not rough or bouncy and handles sooooo much better than with the factory suspension. I am very pleased.

Here's the front before the bags were installed. He didn't have the sensors though.

Wow, great thread! I just stumbled upon this via a tahoe/yukon forum as "pretty much the only air ride writeup" that someone on there could find.

I recently bought an '05 Z71 Suburban and really want to bag it as well... but first a few questions

- How would the procedure differ for a 4wd suburban? Would there be clearance issues?
- Did you get rid of your torsion bars althogether?
- Is there any other place to mount the air tanks? I relaly want to keep the spare tire for... emergencies. I wonder if there is space in the rear interior where the jack/fake subwoofer are?
- Why did you run two tanks and compressors? Does it seems like you should be able to drop it and pump back up with the air in one tank?
- What would you do differently if you were to do it over?
- What are the level sensors for? I know there are stock sensors, can they be reused?
- Is there an alternative to using those shockwaves in the front, ie regular bags?

If I muster up the will to dive into this I'm planning on doing a well documented how-to, and I'm going to try to make it a budget build (<$1000)! I realize that this thread is pretty old but hopefully you are still active enough to see this. (fingers crossed)

Only difference in 4wd are the half shafts. Depending on how low you go they might need to be removed.

You might be able to mount one 5 gallon tank behind the rear bumper while maintaining the spare and mount the compressor along the frame rail. I don't think you can mount 2 tanks and keep the spare though.

One tank and compressor will work but I hit the switches a lot and wanted a system that would quickly refill the tanks.

Run 20's instead of 18's.

Using sensors to set ride height is more accurate than relying on air pressure. ART advertises that the vehicle is supposed to be within 1/8" of the preset height each time the truck is raised. Mine is more like within a 1/4".

I think Ekstensive suspension out of Houston makes a conversion kit for our trucks that allow you to use regular bags.

its way way way better to run regular bags like Slams instead of shockwaves Ive got a couple pics of my front setup I can e mail you if you send me your e mail address.

I think the main disadvantage to shockwaves is the amount of limited lift - I only get 4 1/2". But there are advantages too like performance and being a bolt on application.
