Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

Thanks. I thought the chrome was cool until I actually put it on the motor, WAY too shiny!

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

Thanks.

I also just ordered an orange filter to match the motor (hopefully) instead of the reddish-pink one in it now.

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

Update:

I got the problem with the turnsignals worked out. The ears on the switch cam had broken off so I got a replacement cam but it was nothing like my original. The replacement was just plastic but the original had wires attached to it and contacts that lined up with other contacts on the switch. I ordered a replacement switch and installed it and it works great. It's weird that the replacemnt part had all the same colored wires as the under dash harness but the original switch didn't.

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

I also got the reare suspension set-up last week. It is a Superlift kit from *****************. Here's a teaser.

and I installed yet another air filter. This one stays!

For some reason it shows up a lot lighter in the pics than it really is.

Maybe I can make a little jack-o-lantern to hold the air cleaner on

Getting packages is even better when they are heavy. The box with the yellow tape weighs over 70 lbs.

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

Oh Man, those turn-signal switch detail shots are fabulous!

I installed one like that in my truck, but don't nearly have the bugs worked out yet: Turn signal on (either direction) with no brake applied, perfect. Put the brake on, turn signal stays on - no blinky.

You could not have done better on that air cleaner element - matches the lighter stripes on the valve covers perfectly. The black top really sets the look off - outstanding.

Mac.

Thanks! I never checked to see if they worked properly with the brakes on, I just checked to see if they cancelled. Now I'm curious.

I actually thought of you when I won them. I was hoping you weren't one of the people I had outbid. If I ever find more I'll let you know.

As for the boxes, I'll try to get some pics.

Nice work creep; truck is looking good. I think cleaning the heater box helped the air cleaner look good too.

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

I didn't clean it. The motor is so powerful it sucked the dirt right off of it. That's why I keep changing the filter, I rev it up a couple times and it's filthy!

I was thinking of doing some plaid inserts in the seat when I redo the interior. But that's a couple of years away right now so who knows...

Nice truck!

And thanks to this thread- I've found out that all of those screws on the A pillars actually have a purpose- now to find a couple of mirrors and mounts!

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

Yeah, my driver side door has mounts from 3 different mirrors on it.

I got the front air ride kit last week and it looks amazing. It's a P51 crossmember kit from *****************. I'll get some pics this weekend when I go out to my buddy's house to work on getting his barn ready to work on trucks. Should be starting on my truck by the end of the month.

Re: Got My '63 GMC Today!

Here's the rear kit.

The lower link/upper bag mount.

Lower link bar.

Upper link wishbone.

There's much more to it as you can see. Too much to show everything here.

Hopefully we can get started on it the weekend after Thanksgiving. I may start a new build thread when we do get rippin'.
