Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have the yellow and black Arizona '69 plate on mine. running a vintage plate in AZ is the same as running a vanity plate. There's no insurance / mileage restrictions. The AZ historical vehicle plate is different. They limit you to something like 2000 miles per year and make you emissions exempt. Yes, i still have to smog my 1970 pickup every year. Stupid.

I was told that plate can be run on any 69-72 vehicle provided the number isn't in use on a later plate. It took me a couple plates to find a number that I could use.

Up until the early 1970s Virginia alternated plate colors from year to year. One year black letters on white plates, next year white letters on black plates. Now the standard plates are white with blue letters.

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

FYI in Mass. you have to have the year of manufacture plate on the vehicle. IE my 1964 gto has 1964 mass. plates. Back then Mass gave out new plates every year. You need 2 plates and then you have to go to the reg. and they run the numbers. If its clear you can use them. They also charge you a reg fee yearly to keep them. They restrict you from driving the vehicle on any day other than sunday or to go to and from a show or for repairs.

You need the plates weather you want them or not? Then they restrict your driving? That is "F'd" up.

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

In maryland you can have any tag displayed on your vehicle that you want, but you must go through the dmv and have it registered to that vehicle. You are given a registration card with an indefinite expiration date, but you must also have the vehicle tagged and registered with current editions and renew them every two years. These plates and registration must be carried in the vehicle at all times.

So you can hang whatever plates you want, but you have to keep the other plats in the vehicle? Like under the seat or displayed?

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have my '72 and I had '72 plates on it until the laws changed a couple years ago. Back then my registration said permanent, and I had no mileage or driving restrictions.

Then just to upset me, they changed to as earlier stated.

I just read that I can now use my old '72 plates, and then keep it inspected and put the yearly reg stickers on top corners of the old plates with no restrictions. I'm going to do this when my current registration needs re-newed.

That's no worse than what the state "officially" calls them.
The red/yellow drunk driver plates are called "family plates"

Texas truck 1968. I have a registration tag on the rear plate. It has been confusing for a few local law enforcement officials who have spotted the "expired" registration sticker on the windshield. It's ok though, I haven't recieved any tickets yet.

My model a has the original plates on it, costs me the same as "antique" plates, but its well worth it in my opinion, and texas allows anything less than 5k miles per year, which is super easy, but you can up to to unlimited for a different insurance rate

First thing I did when I bought the truck, picked up some YOM truck plates on Ebay. No problem registering the truck with them.

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have a white and green WA truck plate with a 72 sticker on my 72 C20.

Most of my fun cars 30 years and older are registered in WA with a YOM plate.
It's a one time fee of about 45.-- dollars and good for the life of the vehicle.
They don't want you to use your vehicle as an everyday driver or to haul stuff
around, but it can be used for occational pleasure driving. Nobody ever gave me
a problem about that, even driving in CA with my WA YOM plate.

Just don't use your classic truck to haul your junk around.

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have the blue/white 1964 Arizona plate on my 65C10. When I went to the DMV they kinda didn't seem to know you could use the 64 plate for a 65.They finally figured it out. Now I am trying to find a nice old vintage frame from a Chevrolet dealership in Arizona. Any ideas?

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

Yup, I run my 67 T plates on my truck under the Antique rule. Cost me $95 at DMV for the process and I never have to pay another tag fee again. The only thing I was foggy on was the "Pleasure Driving" part. I was stopped one time by an officer. When I told him I was going to work he was all over it. When I tapped the patch on my uniform and told him I was taking it to work on it he got so befuddled and tongue tied all he could say was "have a nice day" and walked back to his car.
