Re: 72 Suburban Started
Well this week I was able to order all of my parts that i need to complete the suspension, brakes, engine, trans and body work the only thing I still need is a front grille. I like the 1970 but I will also be looking for a 72. I hope to install the engine next week and start the rear airbag kit.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
I hope to get home today and remove the LCA so I can get them cupped, the air bags came in yesterday. I would like to complete the front end this weekend.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
I got the LCA back today and a lot of parts from LMC came in so I started the drivers side rear quarter panel, I had to make all of the inter panel and it should be ready to install the outer this weekend.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Worked a lot on the firewall filling in holes. And then installed an airbag to cycle it through with the new control arms. Clearance around the bag looks good.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Picked up the rebuilt transmission today as well. Finished up painting the engine and mounted the intake. Took an old air cleaner and painted it, might end up using it.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Rear air bag suspension came in today, and started running the air lines to for the front bags (1/2 brass fitting max 300 psi) I am using DOT flex lines for now for checking system but will be running copper lines later.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Got the front end put back together. Hooked up some fittings and air lines. Seems to be working well. Firewall is close, just needs some filler and some blocking and will be ready for paint. And the engine & transmission is close to being ready to go back in again.
Looks like its getting about 10 inches of travel right now (without the drivetrain) Measures out at about 22" aired out and 32 1/2" at full lift. The rear came in, notch, bag mounts and shock mounts .. still waiting on the rear bags. It's gonna look killer when we can get the back down on the ground. |

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Little more progress this weekend, firewall is almost ready, which means we will be able to put the engine back in soon, speaking of its coming together too. Also got the other quarter on.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Probably add some wire to them, loom them and clean them up for now. The wiring was pretty hacked up when he got the suburban.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
Started changing out the 3rd door rocker. Had to modify the inner piece as it was for a truck. Hit the air cleaner with some wrinkle black paint, valve covers will be next.

Re: 72 Suburban Started
After unsuccessfully trying to use an old set of long tube headers, and then looking to see what others had used with bagged trucks .. ordered up a set of Patriot mid length Headers .. should hopefully work out OK.
