Here is a link to some more of the "worlds fastest wrecker"

http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/f...rkdtn/Wrecker/

A few before it was "restored" and several after taken outside before it went to the museum.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 wrecker, fire, ambulance, etc?

These are some cool trucks.Seeing some of the heavy duty 3/4 tons and 1 tons makes me want one.I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a 3/4 or single rear wheel 1 ton truck if i could find one.I'm kinda kicking myself right now as about 3-4 years ago i came across a 1979 or 1980(not sure on the year right now)factory single rear wheel 1 ton truck shortbed that had a holmes style tow bed on it and it was for sale for only 2000 dollars i just didn't have the money at the time and when i did finally the truck was gone.Oh well such as life.Ill find something eventually that will suit my tastes.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 wrecker, fire, ambulance, etc?

What a trip down memory lane! My first wrecker was an 80 GMC k30 with I believe a Vulcan twin line, sling and an add-on wheel lift. 350/sm465. Then a 81 k20 with a slide-in wrecker unit with electric winch and sling, just like the one in that yellow truck a couple pages back (love that truck!). That truck caught fire while plowing, destroyed it but the wrecker body found it's way into a 73 or so k30 srw. Used to leave the plow on all winter because it helped keep the front wheels on the ground when you towed anything bigger than an Escort.
Place I worked used to have a 69 Autocar single-screw with a Holmes 750 and a big 2 stroke Detroit. That truck was finally retired, and along with several other heavy wreckers they now have a $600,000 Kenworth that is the most beautiful wrecker I've ever seen.
Sad that Ford seems to have controlled the 1 ton utility truck market for some time now. Lot more f350 wreckers than Silverados, at least in my area. And all the FD forestry/utility trucks are Fords.

Our old wrecker from work. Pretty much restored this year. 1978 with 78k on it. Those are 19.5" wheels on it. Have current pics somewhere, tinted windows and interior completely redone now.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 wrecker, fire, ambulance, etc?

yep heres my truck im the bought it from a guy who bought it at the fire house auction and he wreaked it i took the box off and made a trailer with it but yea the paint, reflective stripe, battery charger conecter, and the dimand plate on the roof where the mounted the lights give it away

the only bad thing about buying a fire truck is holes and wireing nightmare but its mine

yes the stacks are hooked up and if you look close its blowing a haylo

Picture from 1979 or so in front of our old Exxon station.

About the same time frame. Still missing the front left hub cap too.

About 1991 or 92. Pretty much how it still looks today even though it is been parked.

Badass rig sir!! Looks like there could be a small lift on her, any clue what size if any??
