Re: 74 K/5 Screamin Green

Hey man sorry it has been so long since I got back to you. I thought it would be a good idea to destroy my back a few weeks ago and I have been out of action since then. I decided to keep the front end on the 73 and put it on my 79 and put the 79 front end on the wife's 79 shortbed. I picked up another 79 for parts for hers and it more or less had an intact grill and she said she liked the 79 front better so gotta keep the womens happy.

Re: 74 K/5 Screamin Green

yeah I am seriously considering throwing on the older sheet metal. I have a lot of rust issues to address before then though.

Re: 74 K/5 Screamin Green

OK i have NOT added a thing to this in a year now...
i replaced the front calipers master cylinder and brake line to rear and the thing runs and drives amazing..... spent the last year working on a 73 K5 build and a 77 Elcamino i snagged for 500 bux....
so here it is guys..... gimme your opinions...

I am retaining the bright green metallic code 568 as the base color (since the interior is Avocado...
now do I ..... 2 tone or not ? ... as far as I can tell the truck came green with a white hard top and no secondary color....i am considering Green with white center band and white top, Green with white top and green with Black top.
here are some renderings i made from a computer generated line sketch

Re: 74 K/5 Screamin Green

that was my first inclination... but the 2 tone is soooo dated. but then when was the last time you saw a "bright green" 74?

I agree, that is why my crew cab is getting painted blue and white. These trucks are old and the age of them should be shown.

Re: 74 K/5 Screamin Green

OK so it has been a year and a half since i got to work on the GREEN K5 started the passenger side, removed the torque (rocker box) and support in the rear cut out the floor above the rotted cab support. Had to repair the sub frame the cab support sits in..the welds arent pretty but i had to patch and re construct it.... workin on the bottom of the kick panel now and that and the support should be in by the end of tomorrow. then replace the front floor and repair the outer rear by the rocker and then install rocker and torque box after its repaired....
