Can't wait to see you subscribe to the board!

Do they have an expected time for the install/suspension to be completed?
I certainly hope that everyone can tell my post was a joke and that this gentleman wouldn't even have been on the subject if it weren't for me cutting up a little bit.

Nah, gotcha covered Travis, and I think that Dale is completely on the same page. Just wanted to state it in a positive/joking way so that it was covered but not eventually locked or anything. I gotta see how this build turns out.

Dale, I was looking at the same wheels you have from Summit in 5 lug, how's the quality? They seem to be reasonably priced.

Mike,
I'm not a expert on wheels, however the Summit wheels look good to me. The chrome is smooth and flawless, the fit and finish is excellent. I was not aware that Summit made the Six Spoke legend in a Five lug.

Thanks Dale, I was looking at 5 spoke 5 lug. I thought they looked pretty good I think I'm going to pull the trigger.

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

Have you considered modding the trailing arm cross member to allow the exhaust to pass through? Basically you cut a hole and weld in a 4" pipe. It helps tucking the exhaust system up and out of view. Just an idea.

Nice truck by the way.

I really like those Summit rims - curious to see how they look on the truck.

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

Slow Progress by Bumbera's, however a few pieces were install on the front end. Also, I did a trail fit of the left rear wheel with the 1.5 spacer installed.
I won't know for sure until I get it down on the wheels with suspension compressed, but right now it looks like the wheel is pushed out to the edge of the wheelwell, maybe a tad too much. I may need to go to "Plan B" which is a 1/2 in. spacer.......

Eraser5,

Yeah, I have seen that done on other trucks on this thread. Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into it.

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

I got the truck down on the wheels for the first time to see if the ride height was what I expected and to check the rear track to make sure it was not to wide..... All is good, the rear wheels tuck in the wheelwell very nicely. The track bar seems to have the rear end center in the truck. The ride height measured from the high point of the wheelwells came out 31 in. in the rear and 30 in. in the front, exactly where I wanted them.

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

The Bumbera guys talked to me about the radiator and fan issue now that the engine and trans is installed. since I am also installing a Vintage Air System, they suggest a custom aluminum radiator with twin electric fans. The catch is it cost about two grand.....ouch!!!!! Any body have a alternative solution?

Thanks,
Dale

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

You can get a nice aluminum radiator made to fit our trucks on ebay for around 300-400 and fans for 100-200 plus a controller for another 100. So for 500-700 you can get that setup....2K would be for name brand griffen or be-cool rad and fans but there are some cheap alternatives that board members have used and been happy with.
