Re: My 76
Yeah, you can re-use your window rubber, soapy water in a spray bottle will help it go in easier.
The cab corners for these trucks fit quite well, you may have to trim a bit of the new cab corner inside the door jamb area to get it to sit even with the door. Two things of advice, don't cut anything before you get the new panels and don't throw anything away, when replacing parts, until the job is finished. Oh, and use some eye protection, don't want this to happen.

Re: My 76
Thanks for the advice, I havent cut anything out yet. Just wire wheeled all the old bondo out to see how bad it really was. I did take the back window out last night. Gonna go ahead and start on the top of the cab while Im waiting for the cab corners.

Re: My 76
Ordered mine from classic industries. Cost $24 plus shipping for the panels. I could have gotten the partial panels for only $20 but I wanted the full corner to work with.

Re: My 76
Worked on my passenger floor today, almost got it done. Dont know what I should coat it in when I do finish. So if anyone has any ideas, givem to me..Anyway, I took it from this...
To this... All the major rust was cut out and new panels were made by me and welded into good metal by me. Now my welding skills aint that great, but they get the job done. I also primered my hood, so its close to being done. Took the hood from this... To this... Going to pick up the paint for my truck tomorrow. My dad's friend that owns a body shop is gonna buy it at his price for me. So that way I dont have to pay out the ass..He also said he will let me shoot the truck in his shop and he will help me get my doors back together and put the windows back in the truck. So all I got to do is get the rust re-pair done, get it in primer, and put all the fenders and doors back on. Plus I got to do all the jams and stuff, but that aint hard. Then all I gotta do is give him a call.

Re: My 76
I started on the driver side floor today. After going to get my paint BTW. The paint I chose is Electric Blue Metalic. I told the body shop guy I wanted bc/cc paint but he ordered me enamel. This is gonna be fun to learn to shoot. GruntMoanCough, please help me here. I have no clue what to expect with this paint, and its to late to change it as Ive already paid for it and already have it mixed. Now, back to the floors, while I was cutting the rust out, a nice red hot peice of metal landed right on my arm, where it bends at. I didnt notice till I bent my arm up and it squezed the peice of metal between my arm. Now my arm is killing me. Also had the grinder jump on me and nicked my finger a little bit, and I burnt myself welding agian. It was a good/ very bad day, but Im still breathing and Im one step closer on the truck.

Re: My 76
Getting in a hurry, was trying to get part of the floor done. While I was about half way through, one of my friends called me up asking if he could come over. Well, long story short, he was really messed up on drugs and didnt want to drive or go home. I went and got him and told him this was the first and last time I was gonna cover for him. Next time Ill just go get your mom for ya. So I was trying to get done quickly so I could keep an eye on him and ended up burning myself. Still thinking I should tell his mom.

Re: My 76
Nice branding job on your arm , live and learn, I guess.
When you say enamel, I'm presuming you mean acrylic urethane enamel. No need to be worried, basically the same as spraying clear. A little trickier to spray, being a metallic.

Re: My 76
Yes the drivers side. Everytime I try to make a patch, I make it too big or to small. And when I try to make it fit(if to big) I end up making it to small. I just dont know what Im doing wrong, or if there is another way to make it.

Re: My 76
Can you post a pic of the floor? Maybe looking straight down from the roof or through the back window opening.

Re: My 76
From looking at the pics, Looks like you need the whole drivers side panel, But if you are just patching it all then just trace, cut, and weld in. and remember measure twice cut once.

Re: My 76
A new repair panel would be best and would be easier. The area at the rocker panel is a little tricky to fabricate.
I don't have a square body here to give some measurements, but if you're gonna make patches yourself, I suggest doing it in three pieces, an inner rocker, main floor area and foot area. Also, it would make it easier to trim the floor, as below, to make things a little less complicated. The yellow circle area is a bit of a problem. IIRC, at the kick panel, there is an angle to consider where it goes into the rocker panel area.

Re: My 76
Well, if I wait to get the patch panel, which should be sometime next week. I would still have to build the rocker panel and where the kicker panel is. But if you recommend I get it, Ill order it as soon as I can.

Re: My 76
If you order the floor panel, get the extended one, it'll be long enough to cover the foot area and will include part of the inner rocker. you'll probably have to patch the back spot (yellow circle, previous) where the seat base panel comes up.
Did you get your cab corners yet? How's the roof coming along?
