You'd have the only one!

Ha ha, yeah that's true! It WOULD be interesting to hear the comments I'd get.

Also a Blazer tank with the filler to the side.
Glen,
That Tanks, Inc. generic Mustang tank is nice and the price is right too. Two concerns I'd have are since it's a bed fill and the fill tube is angled coming out of the top of the tank, I think that would look weird. Second is that it bolts on TOP of the frame flange, which is nice that there are no straps to make and anchor but if you ever need to take it out you'd have to remove the entire bed.

Re: Under Bed Gas Tank Suggestions

You can bolt it to the lower rail and make it a rear fill or plumb it out the side. It still won't hang as low as a blazer. The fill neck is a bolt on so you have seberal options for th efill neck

12 years later this info is still helpful , .. . . .
What year / model chevy sending unit did you use ?

Thx !!!

Re: Under Bed Gas Tank Suggestions

this may be helpful: https://help.summitracing.com/app/an...evel-sender%3F

the following is a table at that link:
Ohms / Resistance (Empty - Full)

Popular Models

0 - 90 Ohms Most GM cars, 1965 to Present.

73 - 10 Ohms Ford models (prior to 1989) and most Chrysler models.

240 - 33.5 Ohms Industry Standard. Works with many popular models.

0 - 30 Ohms Most GM models, prior to 1965

16 - 158 Ohms Most Ford models, 1989 and Newer.

I put a ford tank in a chevy using flea market moon eyes 240-33.5 gauge. new sender came from the local import hardware store (Princess Auto) Used the mounting plate from the ford tank, cut the ford sender off, welded the new sending unit to it, then cut and bent the float lever arm to get the right range of movement. Test it by flipping the tank upside down while connected to gauge before you install.

that should work for any compatible sender & gauge as long as sender is made of metal so you can weld it.

to make my life easier I mounted the sender rheostat at the half full height, leveled so there was equal up and down travel. Then I just had to make the float lever arm the right length to touch the top and bottom of the tank at the limits of travel of the sender.

12 years later and the cost of filling a 40 gallon tank today is over $200!!!!. My 25 suburban tank is about all i can afford nowadays!! I forgot to add i saw an all in one GPS speedo with fuel, pressure, temp and volts for under $100 and it reportedly has an fuel gauge adjustable for ohmage!!!!!
