I love your truck an the amount of work you're doing to make this truck cool.
In my unprofessional opinion, lol, I think that all of those choices are great. But I think with the patina'd look and the flat black look choices are great, but they are very individualized, and if you ever decided to resell the truck, it might make selling it a little harder than if it was a more widely appealing paint job like the white or green. I believe the green would be my choice.

The plan is to give the whole truck a nice white paint job (if I go that route) and then once it's all together it will get patina'd. The jambs, firewall underside of the hood etc will all stay nice and pristine. That way if I do decide to change things up later or sell it....just a matter of scuff n spray again. Simple and cheap.

The green with gray interior sounds like a winner to me.
I also like the idea of 20" smoothies with stock caps, maybe paint the center of the wheels white and leave the outer lip chrome or polished.

My thoughts exactly on the rims joe....or at least when it comes to the patina'd look. This is what I am leaning towards, but will have to see. Centerline makes a smooth 8 bolt wheel, would just have to figure out the proper backspacing.

I have seen that and it looks pretty clean...though it was on a dually. My only concern is having the pristine paint job again. I drive alot of conditions you do joe and might end up looking like hell in a few months..hahaha.

Finally got a chance to go into the shop for a bit today....finished up some loose ends on the body work (hope to prime and paint within the week) Started the frame shortening...14" out of the front and 6" off the back to accomodate the short box fleetside. Next will be to flip the rear differential to level this thing out.

Question though for the ones of you that have been here done this already.....how do I make absolute sure that the box is going to sit square with the cab now? Or should I say get the frame exactly level before welding it up.

Thought about welding the top plate area, then just clamping the bottom, then putting the box on before welding up the rest.

Any easier avenues to be absolute sure?

Tack it toghether and clamp it. In a perfect world it wouldn't be needed, but i know it aint perfect.

These are my 2nd favorte body style should be my first because I have had 4 or 5 of them. I'll be watching it see where it goes. Love the dash.

Well, managed to sneak out to the garage today for the better part of the afternoon/evening and made some great headway. Buddy showed up to help me manhandle the box out of the snow and onto the truck to check box verticle angles and make sure it was straight.

Put the box on and measured a dozen times, welded the bottom portion of the frame so that it would stay in place, removed the stands and blocks, removed box, finished the welding, and ground the welds off smooth. And of course snipped off the rear 5" of frame as well.

Will now get a plate inside and out, bolted in 8 locations on either side of the weld, then weld the edges of said plate to meet local hiway traffic safety guildlines.

Shortened the brake line, and removed the suspension activated brake controller above the rear differential. Just not needed for what I will use the truck for.

So far so good I think. The wife was a bit concerned that I was going to leave the suspension and dual rear wheels like that. I calmed her by saying "yes dear, that is exactly how the suspension is staying....why don't you like it". All I heard next was "SMACK!". Appearantly she didn't have much of a sense of humour today...lmfao!

Removed the overload perches, bump stops, and factory
rear frame brace...along with all the fun rivets.




Built a new crossmember to replace the factory on I removed out
of a reciever hitch, used the pieces of frame I removed to shorten the truck as side brackets and should be able to utilize the portion hanging out for the rear bumper as it will only be cosmetic anyways. Will always be using the reciever on this thing. Hoping I have it figured out to hide behind the licence plate.

The more and more CCSB duallies I see you guys building...The more I wanna shorten mine. At first I thought it threw the proportions of the Daully off, Now it is really appealling to me. PLUS it HAS to help turning these bad boys!

Got the axle flipped last night, just mocked up in place. Have to remove the differential then remove the factory perches, weld the new perches in place, then reinstall it all over again. Dropped the rear over 10", sits almost perfectly level now (12" to the rockers) will lower the front another inch or so when I do the single wheel conversion. Would like it to all come down another couple of inches if possible, but won't play with that till everything is back together and full of fuel etc.

I started the truck about a year ago, and have been working on it off and on...so not really sure to be honest. But it has been a fair bit of work, especially when I seem to be so damn picky. I could have left the body as it was for the way I plan to make it look, but wanted to preserve what I had so that it would last.

Okay, finally said "F" it and sat down this weekend and put down some ideas on paper so to speak. This is what I come up with thus far....
