June 26-27 in Chehalis. Its a traditional hot rod show as opposed to a street rod show like Good-Guys. I resonate more with the traditional rods.

I've never done a build thread, when I started the project a little more than eight years ago I didn't like any of the public options so I did my own site. I used to be a dot-com guy and felt I could do it better myself. Now I don't seem to ever take time to maintain it... But since I drive it rather than work on it there isn't much to update either. On the other hand it might be fun to take the old pictures and text and create a build thread for it. Maybe I'll get excited and try that. I'd just feel funny posting stuff from 2002 in 2010. I'm always happy to talk about options. Be happy to meet up at one of the shows and sit and talk. I'm currently disabled so I don't do much and have very limited mobility. Going to Chehalis is actually getting further from UW Medical than I'm supposed to go but I've decided I'm doing well enough to risk it. You're going to find that my project focus isn't the Suburban. I have three other projects underway and most my thinking is around those.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find
I think a build thread would be cool.past to present.i would like to pick your brain a little about this burb.lots of parts need to go back that i did not take off.brakes, steering, motor so many options.s10 or not.i dont mind personal opinions. It gives me a chance to determine pros and cons.seems like newer suspension would be great but comes at a hefty price.the major thing that i dont like about the s10 swap is that it sits the cab 4.5" above the frame. Im trying to go down with it. On the other hand you get newer suspension front and back.

Check this out if you really want to use an inexpensive MII then personally I would use this. I don't remember all the details about it but I seemed easy to do.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find
There is a non Mustang option that is worth looking at. Its based on g-body or S-10 suspension parts and results in a better track width.
Scott's Metric Crossmember And of course there are the Corvette based kits and Jag swaps but I think we've already talked about those.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find
I'm sure if you email Scott he'll have some pics or links to pics.
I've seen the kit with my own eyes, but it was laying on the floor in front of a friend's truck. This was late February of 2009 and I suspect it hasn't moved. That one is in Walla Walla if you're interested in a road trip to get some first hand knowledge. A local guy told me he was going to order two of the kits to do his truck and his uncle's truck, but I don't know if he really did it. That guy lives in Bremerton or Silverdale so it would be less of a drive to see his if he did it.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find
you can get a TCI MII from CPP for maybe 1600 if you call in one of the Ebay auctions, personally I would spend a few more dollars and get a Heidts though. By the time you buy a crossmember and piece all the rest together you are money ahead just to bite the bullet.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find
Well guys here are some pics from yesterday.the weather was actually nice for a change. Got the chassie out and pulled the motor. Started pulling everything off the chassie to prep for MIIi. Im thinking about doing the same thing leevon did on project popeye and using the trailing arm setup from a 63 donor i have. I need to get a little more detail on it. Not sure if its factory but the undercoating has really preserved the wood under this thing. Very very very little rust on the floor boards.
