Re: First try 66 stepside
Still waiting on the paint to be finished. He must like the ol' longbed sitting in the shop taking up space. But it's free storage for now it's been almost a year. Man I want to get working on that truck, time to put the pressure on.

Re: First try 66 stepside
Paint guy let it get rained on after he let it sit in his shop for a year. He would have let it get rained on again if I didn't pop in to check progress. Getting a little irritated

Re: First try 66 stepside
Getting caught up here.. Love the little Jayhawk shirts- Rock Chalk Jayhawks!!! Go KU!!
So what is it with painters and never getting finished. I had a 71 El Camino at the painters for over 8 months. I finally would stop in every Friday for the last 2 months with the flatbed trailer and tell the guy that he was done and I wanted my car . Always was "I had to get this other project in then I am back to work on yours".... I cannot complain on his work or what he charged me.. I just wanted my car done!!! That is a nice green. I like it

Re: First try 66 stepside
I saw the synergy green Camaro and it really grabbed my attention. Ran if by my project partner and he was game. But we found out that synergy green is expensive and difficult to lay down. We found a cheaper and easier to use paint the guy said it was a Mazda color.

I never gave paint prices much thought until it was time for paint during my wifes 1972 LeMans restoration. She totally loves that Camaro metallic red (something-Jewel or Garnet) anyways, at $500 a quart it really made my wallet pucker.... What can I say though, if you are going to pay 15k for a year long restoration on a classic I guess you shouldnt fudge on the paint.... Disclaimer: MY current build does not fall under that last statement. LOL That green is pretty cool looking, Rock it man

Re: First try 66 stepside
Yeah, my current build is getting full rattle can treatment.
A large part of that was I didnt have an air compressor when I started, and the air quality where I am is horrendous with dust. There is no way I could plastic off the garage enough to make it feasable to shoot good paint.

Re: First try 66 stepside
After giving the painter a motivational speech so to speak I'm going to pick up the truck on Monday. Then we get to try to remember how to put the truck back together! With some luck maybe have it together for the Northwest car show in Boise.

Re: First try 66 stepside
Some more work is done it's been tough to find time to update the build. The dash is painted so is the interior of the cab. Brought the color of the dash onto the door to break up the white. And got the mirrors on its nice to see some shiny chrome.
