Nice shroud. Keep an eye on this one. No matter how long it takes.

Re: 65 shorty build
Well, I do know one way to bend a panhard bar. When I was younger I owned a 68 with coils and the butt end of the truck would on occasion get loose and find a curb or some other object that would not move. You would think that would bend or break a rim before it would bend that bar, not always. If it were me, I would just find a good used replacement and have new bushings pressed in it.
I have not found any quick way to remove undercoating other than chemical dipping. I have tried the heat method and all it seams to do is make a gummy mess. I have had the best luck using a good stiff putty knife at room temp. If it is really old undercoat, it usually chips away fairly quick. Good Luck |

Re: 65 shorty build
Got a new alternator bracket today! I finally found a bracket that takes care of my clearance issues with my valve covers and looks decent! I had issues with the stock 69 short water pump alt bracket not clearing the tall fabricated valve covers/raised cylinder head design!! well heres some pics
and that panhard bar that was bent.... well i took some DOM tube and turned it down on the lathe, put some energy suspension bushings in and welded up a 1" cold rolled bar to the DOM and boom just like that! done!

Good deal with the bracket Chev, looks like you took care of it before I replied. Where'd you get it? All looking good.

Re: 65 shorty build
Wow my last post was from 2012..... it’s kinda like I left you guys on a cliff hanger
I think at that point I had lost interest for a little while, got a new job and moved away for a few years. So much has changed to this truck, after I got it running, its maiden voyage was to an auto cross event where it did surprisingly well for an old truck with no front or rear sway bars I ended up buying a 1960 C60 grille and converting it to work on the 64-66 C10-30. I have more pics but will post the highlights. Also ended up putting in a BBW and I love it

Re: 65 shorty build
Here is some pics of the BBW installed. I bought a panel from Scott’s big back window, don’t think he does much with these old trucks any more. He did an excellent job making the panel though, I posted a thread about how I did the conversion but I’m sure the pics are blurry now that photo crap wants you to pay for a membership.
