Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Lets do a 4th of july special, rear brake kits back at 165 shipped. Sale ends 12 am on the 5th.
If you have been eyeing the kit, nows your chance to grab a set. Kit now includes a 1/8 spacer for the ebrake cable holder to cable retainer if you choose to use the LS1 style cables. This spacer is the same thickness of one of the surfaces on the parking brake cable end. (photo of this soon). This allows you to tighten down the holder without putting a bind on the brackets. Added bonus.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Got my set yesterday, parts look good.
Where do you bend the bracket for the parking brake cable? I do not see a mark for bending it like in your rendering...

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Hello.
I would like to buy a set. I also live in Houston ( Hwy 6 & clay rd.), so I can pick it up if possible. I would also like the number to the machine shop you used to modify the spindles. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Clint
I am getting my axles back tomorrow. I will be putting the brakes together sometime tomorrow. I got calipers and rotors from RockAuto.com I will have to paint the calipers to match the red front calipers we already have. I will post pictures of my set up this weekend.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Got them mocked up yesterday. I do not have my e-brake parts yet so this is only the parts required for the caliper and rotor. I got my axles machined locally to have the register turned down to fit the C5 rotor and he faced off a groove near the outer edge that allows the rotor to sit flush. I did not have the OD of the flanged turned at all. I drilled my own rotors for the 5 on 5 pattern. Brackets looked good and had all the hardware I needed. Thanks again.
I did not get a picture of the caliper mounted but I will next time I go to the shop and get the rim off.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
If your rear axle flange measures :
http://www.southwestspeed.com/parts/...langeChart.jpg Then it will bolt up. If you have 6 lug, you would need to get 5 lug. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
I think the 1990 C1500 axle flange is the same. If it is, then this set up would bolt on. You may have to work out the spacing so that the caliper is centered over the rotor...
You really need to get under the truck and look at where the backing plate bolts to the axle flange. If the measurements of the bolt spacing matches the drawing linked in Clint's post above, then the brackets will bolt up.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Clint, I am getting closer to putting Korbin's truck on the road. I got the rear brakes all mounted up, just waiting on installing new studs in the axle before buttoning up the rear end.
I got all teh E-brake parts I needed from corvetterecycling.com. Here are some pictures: Had to make a slight modification to your bracket to mount the e-brake cable.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
I got my axles done with the new studs last night. I had an issue getting the passenger side axle pushed in far enough to get the C-clip in. I ended up taking the limited slip springs and plates out to get just enought room to get the clip in place. Now I have to put the plates and springs back in. That is going to be a pain, we tried for about a hour, but no luck. Stopped and went to bed, will try again tonight.
Did you have any issues getting the axle to push in far enought to get the clips on?

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Maybe remove the parking brake bolt and shave it down. I think that's what I did on one side or both. Or installed the axle without the parking brake plate top bolt in and then wiggled the shoe on at the end.

Re: True C5 Rear Disc w/ internal parking brake in the works
Got is all together and been driving it a bit. Korbin likes the way it stops and the parking brake holds well. I think I might have an issue with my booster, but overall I am very happy at this point.
