this truck looks sick, congrats nice and clean. how you liking the engine and trans? hows your gas mileage, heard of one guy getting 25 mpg once you get rid of all the emissions crap. kinda curious cause I'm doing a 5.3 in a 53' belair.

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
This combo bang for your buck can't be beat, this is just a junkyard 2005 5.3 with about 350hp. The trans is good plus it'll take more hp if it needs to. Not sure about the mileage which reminds me of bumper sticker I just saw "My truck is burning the gas your Prius saves"

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
bustac, thanks for the reply. I'm late to the game so I'm playing mad catch up, but learning quick. I really dig the things you can do with the LS stuff. Some serious HP can be obtained on the cheap, kinda like the vortecs but even better. Did you use an aftermarket trans controller? How'd you go about that?

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
I'm running a 4L80e, originally came with 4L60 so I had the segment swapped onto the PCM, I'm tuning with HP Tuners. Kinda weird plugging a laptop into 1947 truck. Only thing added was a ISS speed sensor that the 4L60 didn't have. The rest is all stock connections, my setup is also drive by wire with electronic pedal.

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
I never got to excited over the hotrod flat black until I seen a 50 GMC at a car show recently. It was a nice clean build and was pretty sharp. Your truck has changed my mind completely, very nice build, you should be proud.

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
cool, thanks for the info, I'm about a year or so away from getting that drivetrain going so I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
Looks killer, I might have missed it but how high did you mount your cab off the frame? Did it need a trans hump?

Re: 47 1-Ton to S10 build
I forget but I made the same idea as the mounts described in some of the other threads I wanna say about 5". I used an original tranny cover but gave it about a 1" hump in the middle just be safe.

Let's just say I like it.
Clean truck. Those rims with black centers and Nickel grill just the perfect combo with the matte black. |
