Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
Not alot. How are you doing? Your turbo is sweet. You might have to twin turbo mine someday (-:
I am getting ready to get my 700r4 installed. I hope to pull the engine and trans soon. I am going to get ccp's trans crossmemeber and motor mounts. I also am going to change my stall. The trans came with a 2500 stall and I think that is going to be to high. I went to a trans shop tonight and they are going to help me along with the install. They are going to take a look at the trans to make sure it looks okay before I start ripping into the install. I am a few weeks out because I am trying to finish the Harley but I will post pics as I go. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
I went to an auction this weekend I picked up these headers as well as a brand new Edelbrock Perfromer RPM intake.. I also got a DA sander for all the body work about to happen. I should have my trans back soon and I will be pulling the engine for a repaint and to install the new parts (intake, trans, headers, motor mounts, trans mounts, rear gas tank)

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
^^^^ 69CST-V I just got word the trans that you sold me checked out so it does look good. I appreciate it and hopefully I will have it in the truck sooner than later. I am going to buy a new stall for it because I think the 2500 you had with it will be too much.

Yes. I bought it new to go with my S10 project. Just used a different setup in the end and never used the converter or trans.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
Thanks.. I learned alot.. It was a fun project.. I had never welded, painted or used fiberglass until this project.. I am excited to carry over my knowledge i learned here onto the truck. I hope it will turn out well too. I cant wait to tear into it and start working on it.
The only thing really left on the bike is to put air ride on it. I plan to do that next winter. I hope to have this and my truck sitting on air. (-:

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
thanks... I also should mention that I bought a new entire roof from randy over in meriden.. I plan to cut the top off this one since its a rusted POS and weld on the new one. The new one is really clean looks to have no rust and has holes for a headliner.. That should be a fun welding project..
Atleast my truck will be a convertable for atleast one day of its life. I will take pictures so you guys can see how much I mess it up.

Awesome work on the bike B!
Can't wait to see what you can come up with on the truck now with your skills. And can't wait to see some updates on the new house. My wife and I have been looking for a long time but just can't quite find what we want. Congrats on the new house!

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
Well I am finally starting to think about the truck again.. I realized with me moving in two weeks there would be no time to get my 700r4 installed this year so I am putting it on the shelf till next season. Its probably for the best anyway.
On that note I started looking into ways to get my TH-350 from leaking... I bought a entire speedo gear assembly and also tightened my trans pan.. The great thing is I drove it around the block.. This morning it was still bone dry.. I am excited that now I might be able to start driving this thing.. I need to get a few things buttoned up. Anyway more to follow but things are looking up.. Is that truck nationals coming up here in Parkville soon.. I might bring the truck.. its rough but it would still be fun to be able to drive it.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
I am really excited to work on the truck tomorrow. I am planning on trying to get my vaccum line hooked up for my power brakes.. Praying my brake booster works. I also plan to start looking at my gas guage.. I think I have a wiring prob.. the guage is working like it should so either its a wiring prob or my sending unit is jacked.
Just excited to go drive the thing.. I will try to take pictures.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
Well I said I was going to take pics and I got to workingand never did. I have good and bad news. The bad is my trans is still leaking a little around the pan. I am just going to buy a new pan and gasket. I plan to do that next week. Okay now on for te good news. I now have power brakes and they will throw you through the window. I also replaced the spark plugs and air
Filter. It now drives much better. I am hoping to get my gas gauge fixed next along with the trans leak. Then the truck will be solid. I move ina week but once I get settled I am going to get the rest buttoned up. Then I will bring it home right now I am storing it at a buddies house 30 min away so it makes it hard to get work done on it. I will update again when I get some more done. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
That sounds more like a sending unit problem than a gauge problem to me.. If your gauge works like it should, i'd start with the sending unit.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
i AGREE.. I am about a block from classic parts so I will probably be running down there to buy a new sending unit. I want to check the wiring through first to make sure i dont have any cuts in the wiring that could be grounding out causing it to not read right. Who knows though.. Part of me would rather replace it all back just to know its all done right and new.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
Eventually that's what I would do. But if you're tryin to keep the cost low.. It could be the wiring, but I'd bet more towards the sending unit. That's usually the problem more so than the wiring i THINK, but I could stand to be corrected.
That's pretty cool that you live within walking distance of classic parts. |

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed
So guys.. A guy has offerred me 4000.00 for my truck.. I would keep me headers, trans, and intake.. I am really tempted to sell it. I would replace it with something else. My question to you guys is do you think I can get a better truck for 4000 grand? Since this frame has been cut and i am going to have to do a ton of welding on it to fix rust would I be wise to sell at that price and look for something better. I want a 67-72 shortbed and I know they are going up in price. Just want to get everyones opinion...
Any help would be appreciated. I am leaning towards just keeping what I have but it sounds fun looking for something else.
