Thanks guys. I replaced my serpentine belt today. I had been having hell with it squeaking. I think I had the wrong belt. The new one is an inch or so shorter and doesn't squeak at all.

I started laying out the wood for the bed and drilling the mounting holes etc. At first I thought Classic Parts shorted me on the metal strips because I'm missing one. It turns out they sent me a kit for the wrong year. The 73-87's have 7 boards and the earlier models had 8 boards. It fits but all the mounting holes are off and I'm short a bed strip. They emailed me to return some of the boards and they would send replacements. I think I'd rather them just send the extra strip.



Took it for a drive this morning and took a couple more poser shots.

If you are talking about the front, I just haven't got around to it yet. I have been slowly putting the truck back together. It's kind of nice not having them in there when you are working in the engine compartment because there is a lot more room.

ahhh i see but that paint is so nice its gonna be hard not to scratch it trying to fit the front inner fenders . i just when trough this 2 days ago just to test fit and i did scratch them up

Your truck looks good. I am just starting my 4x4 stepside build and I am trying to figure out if I want to lift it a inch or two. Do you know how tall your truck is? Also, what size tires are you running?

Saw your truck in your other thread. Looks like a nice clean truck to start with.

Mine is totally stock. No lift. The tires are 31x10.50x15. I also considered running 32x11.50x15's, but there are not very many tires available in that size these days. I also considered something like an Interco TRXUS, which is a true 31 inches tall. Most brands exaggerate. I ended up cheaping out and getting some Firestone all terrains. I had to do something as the tires that were on it looked like they were from the 80's. I was afraid I'd have a blowout and mess up my new paint.

Yeah I'm going to try and get my bed off here in the next couple of weeks and then I'll prolly take my truck out there half primed and bed less lol but man your truck is coming along great!!

I finally got my wood in the bed. I used some Walnut stain and 3 coats of marine Spar varnish. The wood is yellow pine.

That's funny! One reason I went with pine is I plan on using it. I painted the bottom side black. The thought crossed my mind to paint the whole thing black.

I carried some old tires yesterday, and washed it out with a hose before I took the picture. Hopefully, the finish will last a while!

I haven't made an update in a while. I have been working on the interior and finally got the power windows and locks working correctly.

I bought a used bumper from a member here on the forum. It has pitting and isn't perfect but it's good for a driver. Here is a pick of it with the bumper on.

Anyone know where to get a good deal on a receiver hitch for these trucks? I have found some, but they are more than I paid for the bumper. I didn't realize they were so expensive.

Bumper looks good. I just put a receiver on my 77 a couple weeks ago and will grab the part number. Beware, there are a lot of hitches that WON'T fit our short boxes with the sport bumper. Even with the one I finally got I had to clearance the bumper brackets slightly. I like the way it looks though as it just has the receiver sticking out below the license plate and not the big bar going all the way across.

I think I pad right around $200. Pictures in my build thread.

Draw Tite 75034 is what I put on my truck. They say you need a spacer kit to clear a pair of rivets for the little dinky cross member. The spacers wouldn't fit between the rivets either, so I ground down one of the rivets flush and it fit like a champ after that.

I bought the hitch locally, but got a brake controller and wiring kit from etrailer.com. I'm putting that on now but am very impressed with how comprehensive the kit is and the quality seems good.
