Re: Meet Ginger.
Dead.
Got my seat down to 8 wires and I think I only need 3 of them, but I will verify that before applying power. Need to get my fuel cell so I can relocate the tank impermanently, then get the seats mounted for good. Man, god a ton of work done, but there is still a ton to do. At least I can cross some off the list.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Holy crap, what a pain in my ass.
So long story short, my seats adjustments work 100% now after WAY too much troubleshooting. I want to thank snowblind for the help and encouragement on these seats. They fit with the tank mounted, but they will move back a little more when I pull the tank for good. They are so damn comfortable, I would say they are worth the effort. When it was all said and done, the wiring actually wasn't that bad. But as an engineer, I over thought it and that made things tough. I am sectioning the middle seat this week to bring it down to match the sides. The middle seat color looks a lot better in person. It's out of an F150 that I got for $100 shippped through ebay. My daughter loves it and the shifter clears no problem now. It will be even better once I cut the seat down.

Re: Meet Ginger.
What size tires you got on that thing? Might be the drop, but I like the way they fill the wheel wells.

Re: Meet Ginger.
I know the wheels are 16", but I'm not sure of the size off hand. Once I have the suspension done, it will all be 1/2 ton 5 lug. The front is low, but it's all sag from what I can tell. I hope to get my bags and suspension in the next few weeks and should have the frame ready to go soon after.
I got everything I need for my interior now, so I will post up pics of the kick panels, door panels, and seats mounted with the carpet and pad installed.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Not ssure what year it is, but it's out of a Ford F150. The auction listed the dimensions as 14" wide, 18" tall (when folded down), 30" tall (when seat is open), and 28" from front to back.
I mounted the center using the front 2 mounting holes, then welded a plate to the rear because the rear holes are not reachable. It's mounted straight to the floor with nothing underneath. The side seats are mounted on top of a 1/4" carpet pad and 1/2" rubber body type mounts I found at the auto parts store. The middle seat sits more flush with the sides now. I should have pics up this weekend.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Got my NEW kick panels started (the old ones stuck out too far)
Got my sound material installed Installed my industrial carpet pad I got the carpet trimmed and set up, but need to get a heat gun since mine died in order to get it to fit. No pics of the carpet in, but the color looks great with the seats (basic tan). I still need to get some glue and thin foam to do the doors, but the kick panels should be done with glass tonight.

Re: Meet Ginger.
I ended up running the carpet pad all the way up the firewall (just noticed the pic shows it ending at the firewall). I managed to get the speakers to fit flush into the pocket so it will work a lot better and be a little better hidden, too.
I'll get the kicks done tonight and post up pics. I hope to get the seats back in once the carpet is installed.

Re: Meet Ginger.
More kick panel progress. Now I just need to do the final layer of fiberglass, then smooth and cover with my upholstery. Still a lot to do on the carpet, too.
The carpet looks great with the seats. It will look even better once I get the kicks done to match. I hope to have the kicks done, carpet fitted, and seats remounted this weekend. Doors are next.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Tweeter pods mounted
Kick panels wrapped Passenger door wrapped With the new stainless allen hardware Once I get my door felt and weatherstrip ready, I will strip and repaint the doors. I ran out of glue so I couldn't do the drivers door. Hope to have the carpet molded and tucked this week, then I can mount the seats back in. <edit> It's tough to see in the pics, but the vinyl matches the seats in both grain and color damn near perfect. It'm stoked.

Re: Meet Ginger.
I give you guys a lot of credit for the trouble you go through for stereo and carpet and all that. I listen to the motor and look at my radio delete cover where the radio would be if I had one. I use a rubber mat for the floor and a vinyl seat so I can just hose it out. It's not that I don't like all the doo dads and all... I'm just too old and too lazy to do it up like you young guy's My hat is off to you.. I enjoy sitting back and watching you all make 'em purdy..

Re: Meet Ginger.
Thanks.
To be honest, I haven't put a big stereo in one of my own rides since before my daughter was born (2000). I figure if my wife is making me keep this one, then I should build it the way I like so I have less to ***** about later.

My last "killer stereo" was installed in my 67 GTO in 1982. Since then, I spend more time talking on a cell or just driving. But that is me. IF I put a stereo in my truck, it will be one of those stock looking jobs the mail order truck parts guys sell. My dash is virgin perfect in all of my vehicles and I am not going to cut them up. I follow your build and others and they all have a very unique thing going on. But isn't that what hot rodding is all about?

Re: Meet Ginger.
All my builds are about personal thought and expression. My street bike build was the same way. I see what others have done, see what others haven't, and find what works for me.
I have to say while this build isn't going as fast as I would like, I am happy with how it's shaping up. I do a little on it most every day and small progress is progress. I have a rebuilt Edelbrock carb, RPM manifold, and GM HEI with wires to install this weekend (I hope). It would be nice to get better than 8mpg if I can

Re: Meet Ginger.
I know what you mean brother...
I try to "complete" something, anything, at least once a week. I got my motor together and fired it up on my home made test stand and found the rear main seal I installed leaking. That's why I start new motors on a stand before installing them. This weekend I hope to have it back together with a new rear main that replaced the old-new rear main. I want to drive my truck..... I have been looking at it long enough!

Re: Meet Ginger.
My issue is I don't want to stop driving mine, even as hoopty as it is. Since installing the seats, it's SO NICE to drive. I can't wait to see what it's like with all the inside leaks fixed with the carpet/pad/sound deadener installed.
Like I told my wife, there are two lists for the truck. Mine, and the trucks. There are things I want to do first, then there are things the truck wants done first. I'm trying to get the interior together, but now the engine has started to stutter. So I HOPE upgrading to a better fuel/ignition setup, that will help things a little. If all goes as planned (and we all know how that goes) I will have the frame/brakes/suspension done this summer and will be ready to rebuild the motor/trans, then swap everything over to the finished chassis.

Re: Meet Ginger.
A little left to do on the carpet, but it's mostly done (minus the burn spot on the trans tunnel). Still need my weather stripping, new sill plates, and pedal pads. But the carpet and seats look great with the newly covered doors and kick panels.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Power door locks for keyless entry are done! OK, this was a lot easier that that write up from Classic Trucks. I didn't weld anything. The only thing I did was grind out the pin and replace it with a bolt.
Pin removed: Bent the spoke for the actuator to fit around the lock pin: Put the hoop over the lock pin: Reinstall: Here is the orientation of the actuator in my door See the screws are hidden by the door panel (ignore the "test" hole): DONE! The actuator locks and unlocks like a charm. The window clears the actuator and there is no binding at all.

Still waiting, seems my ideas are faster than technology.
If Asus would have built the MeMO, I'd be in business, but it seems to have been killed off.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Glove box door had the original dark fawn '66 interior color on it.
It was too dark for my liking, so I went on the hunt for Medium Fawn and found something close that looks awesome. Much better match. Now to shoot the rest of the interior.
