Re: Tunnel Ram

And would you believe this fits under the hood? The intake is 6.06" from the floor of the intake to carb pad with a 4 hole 2" tall spacer. I dont have the spacer on the motor now but I think I might keep it for future use when I get a blower. I also have a custom air cleaner spacer thats 8" tall when I wanted to go through the hood but I hate to cut the hood for a ram and not a blower!

Re: Tunnel Ram

Good point prostreetC-10 Yes i have checked plugs and they are all the same color and seem to be burning evenly. The Tunnel Ram topic is a touchy one because each application has to be taylored to fit the engine and the duty it will be used for. The biggest problem guys have with tunnel rams is they over carburate!! If you match your cfm with your heads and cam you can really have a nice performance package for the street and have killer looks!

Nice talking to you CVA and well at least get it so you can go get a gallon of milk or something. Above that you are on your own. ;o)
Thanks again C10. You are big help and i think we can get this thing operational for me to use. As you stated, i am not looking to build a drag racing machine, just something i can cruise around the streets with.

shortbed..... Yes, it fits. The guy i got it from had is sitting on a 350 that was sitting in a 65 C10. The hood cleared. Anything taller than the air cleaners that are on it now and NO it won't clear. These little A/C's allow the little extra space needed to clear.

Re: Tunnel Ram

CVA, there was an article in Hot Rod(?) or something a few years back where they tested a bunch of tunnels with different set-ups and some made better torque in low rpm then the dual plane they used for the baseline. I'll try to find the article for ya.

Re: Tunnel Ram

Today my son is going to go to the sitter for a little bit so I will have some garage time. I'll try and get those parts rounded up. One thing though. Even though they are nice, one off spacers, you might want to think about not running them. They are absolutely not needed and will give you that much more clearance. Those are the reason they guy had to change the linkage. Come to think about it as I type, that linkage might not even work without the spacers depending on what he has done to it. Just by looking at the pics, you should be able to reposition the little arms on the splines a little farther back. If you are going to attemp this, give yourself the best chance for it to work and the spacers are not needed. You certainly don't need to increase the size of the plenum.

Re: Tunnel Ram

Gotcha, I will look into taking them off. They do work flawlessly with the spacers. Just looking at it, i can't see much reason why they won't work without them. I am sure i will have to readjust the throws and such. I will definitely take your advice though. Sounds great on the parts. I am gonna pull the worse of the 2 carbs apart and start it soaking today. It looks like it will need to soak for quite a while, LOL.

Re: Tunnel Ram

I went the otherway.......
I like the look of what you have going on there looks great but because I wasn't sure if I would have to cut the hood and I didn't want to cut it, I went with a cross ram set up instead. Hits the dyno next week should be intresting I know it's probaly not the best way to get more HP but hey it looks dammmmmmn cool. Congrats on your new purchase it looks awsome nothing says sexy like a couple of holley's under the hood......

Re: Tunnel Ram

Amazingly I found the article, CVA!! How time flies, this is Hot Rod magazine, January 2002. It was actually a multi-carb article and did some 3x2's also.

The article is titled 'Multi-carb Shootout' and it goes thru seven different intakes and mentions jettings and so forth. They seem to go for peak HP but mention other info such as drivability and jettings.

Thought it mite help you set up your new adventure along with prostreet's advice.
